Initiator

I still don't understand why people put so much emphasis on AA's initiation abilities. His ulti might sound good on paper, but in real games during team clashes, hitting more that 1-2 heroes close-up is almost impossible. The damage is also not that great. He's just not in the same league as heroes like ES, Tidehunter, Enigma, Kunkka etc.--XRdR 00:54, 26 September 2011 (CDT)

We should choose what degree of precision we want when defining role. The way you say it is "only put it if it's his main role and he does it perfectly" but maybe it should be more like "he is able to do this and that". -ChocolateWaffle 01:23, 26 September 2011 (CDT)
The thing is: AA is a much better ganker and support than initiator. That's why I changed his role from initiator to ganker. But he can initiate nevertheless... under certain conditions. AA is a very complex hero it's hard to define all his roles in just one word. If a newbie player comes here and sees him as an initiator I don't know what's he's going to think. May be adding Primary roles/sub-roles/secondary roles will help. --XRdR 01:55, 26 September 2011 (CDT)
See, in Dota 2, each Hero has a given role that's pretty much just flavor text. It doesn't provide you with much more info than "he can do this." It shows up on the selection screen and it's relevant information. I'm not in beta and I can't just look up what each Hero's role is, so I end up guessing. -Lancey 11:58, 26 September 2011 (CDT)
Nevermind that apparently I can just look them up! -Lancey 13:05, 26 September 2011 (CDT)
Now that you mention it I noticed them too. I'm a bit disturbed though. Shadow Shaman - pusher? Double facepalm.--XRdR 09:11, 27 September 2011 (CDT)
It may be a beta thing though, and be subject to change, some of the roles aren't...ideal. -ChocolateWaffle 11:28, 27 September 2011 (CDT)

Need to rewrite (again)

I'll just list out problems I had with the rewrite of this article (because it badly needed to be changed, right?)

  • Highly subjective
  • Un-wiki-like language ("The second reason for this")
  • Very short introduction
  • Constant grammatical errors
  • Inappropriate use of formatting (bold text and italics)

Discuss below -Lancey 23:48, 5 October 2011 (CDT)

Total rewrite? No. I like it that way. Polish and fix? Yes. We should also replace bolded text in gameplay section, with links to corresponding pages explaining these terms.--XRdR 00:05, 6 October 2011 (CDT)
I'm removing the formatting regardless. And putting back his role. -Lancey 10:09, 6 October 2011 (CDT)
Am I that bad? :( Anyway, it was my first time editing so its ok. However, the reason I put those specific words in bold is because they are the "key" points of AA. Also, there seems to be a bug with the skill box of his ultimate; The description is too much on the left. Since I am clueless to how the formatting works here, ill leave it to someone else. Another question: How do we create a page? I would have made a page describing all of those bolded words but I didnt know how.--Nuxar 11:06, 6 October 2011 (CDT)
You can add pages by either following a link that goes nowhere and editing the page, or by using the search function and looking for a page with the name you want to create. For example, if I wanted to make a page for "Ganker", I would just search for Ganker. -Lancey 11:12, 6 October 2011 (CDT)

Shatter

Some of the information cant be correct, if the shatter would purge all buffs and do 100000000 physical damage, that would be kinda like Axe's ulti, which isnt blocked by shallow grave, so it should go through.

Counterpick?

Doesn't Ice blast make AA a perfect counter to Necrolyte? Necrolyte is only tanky if he can spam death pulse so if he can't heal, he's just as paper as any other int hero.

Recommended Items Broken

I'm not sure if this is where this goes, but the recommended items section's formatting is messed up.

Ice Blast Purgeable

Ice Blast should be purgeable (see 6.66 patch notes), it is a bug that it is not purgable.

Is it purge-able by all sources? I know that Legion Commander can purge it, but I thought that was a bug.

Phoenix can get rid of the debuff via ulti. Should be listen in the exceptions, with sunder and decay. Doesnt any stats spells work too? Morph for example...

AA Lore

Just something i noticed recently: AAs lore seems to be inspired from the Heath death theory, a theory on how our unverse will probably end. Search it on wikipedia, if interested.

TL;DR Our universe will cool down in the far future to an absolute minimum and then stay like that forever.

Personally, i think this is worth being mentioned in the article. Any thoughts?

Chilling touch aggro

Hi, I tried to edit that spell because I noticed that Chilling Touch has no aggro on enemy creeps, which is very interesting to know. Now I notice that an admin named Bu3ny rolled back my contribution. Just wondering why ? Thank you. The mechanic you described is known as orb-walking, and is not unique to Chilling Touch. It works with all active attack modifier. ~~ Bu3ny (talk) 20:52, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Oh I see now. Maybe you should add something to inform people about that on spells working this way. Just saying... by the way, I also noticed that votex doesn't amplify chilling touch. Is it normal ? --Sc4nd4le

Phased movement

To test enemies have phased movement while affected by Ice Vortex. Irismus (talk) 03:38, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

No longer the case since 7.34, put a temporary note in Changelogs, will add more details if I find the exact time Irismus (talk) 20:14, 24 August 2023 (UTC)

Aghanim's Scepter recommendation outdated

It seems that the recommended items wasn't updated since 7.23, as it mentions the upgraded Ice Blast debuff duration in Aghanim's Scepter, which is no longer the case...
