Zhang "Mu" Pan is a Chinese professional Dota 2 player who is currently teamless.
Professional Career
TongFu
In April 2012, Mu joined TongFu,[1] which would end up qualifying for The International 2012 and placing in the top 8 of the tournament.
Following TI2, TongFu would become one of the best teams in China, even securing a direct invite to The International 2013. There, they would place the highest of all the Chinese teams and take 4th place, though many say they could have placed higher if not for Natus Vincere's infamous Fountain Hook strategy.
Newbee
In February 2014, Mu joined Hao, SanSheng and Banana, his former TongFu teammates, as well as legendary Chinese captain xiao8 in Newbee.
This team would take China by storm, rivaling Team DK as the best Chinese team of the time. After getting a direct invite to The International 2014, the team struggled a bit in the group stages, but then got their act together and ended up defeating Vici Gaming and Evil Geniuses in the upper bracket to get to the grand finals, where they would face Vici Gaming again, and defeat them to take home 1st place.
After TI4, Newbee enjoyed relative success, still placing well at tournaments, but would hit a speed bump at Dota 2 Asia Championship 2015, where they would place last. After the event, the team changed players a few times, however Mu stayed with the team, even through The International 2015, where they would again place last.
Newbee continued to disappoint for a few months, placing last again at Frankfurt Major 2015 and 9-12 at Shanghai Major 2016. However, the arrival of kpii and Kaka to Newbee heralded a new rise to success. They again became one of the best teams in China, winning a few minor Chinese events and placing highly at international events. They were even seen as one of the favorites to win Manila Major 2016, though they placed a solid 3rd after losing to the runners up, Team Liquid.
