EMP (6.50-6.53)[]
- This ability got reworked into the current E.M.P. in the 6.54 gameplay patch.
- Applies the mana loss first, and then the damage.
- The damage and the mana loss are fully independent from each other.
- Also damages enemies without a mana pool.
- Fully affects invisible units, but not hidden units. Invulnerable units lose mana, but are not damaged.
- The visual effects during the effect delay are visible and audible to everyone.

The hero increases in strength, agility, and intelligence.
- This ability was removed in the 7.00 gameplay patch.
- Unlike all other heroes, Invoker gained one Attribute Bonus at LEVEL 25, granting him 6 points in all stats at once.
- Because of the associated bonuses of each attribute, each Invoker's Attribute Bonus had the following cumulative effects:
- 6 main attack damage
- 120 max health
- 0.18 health regeneration
- 6 attack speed
- 0.87 armor
- 72 maximum mana
- 0.24 mana regeneration
- 0.375% spell damage
Pre 6.18[]
- Old Invoker refers to the initial version of Invoker from 6.10 to 6.18.
- The two versions of Invoker share surface-level similarities, in that they both utilize three reagents to produce an ability when combined with Invoke.
- However, for the Old Invoker, the order in which his reagents were summoned is also used to determine which ability is Invoked, giving him access to a full 27 abilities expr
n^n
compared to the current Invoker's 10exprC(m+n-1, n)
.
- For example, for Old Invoker, Quas Quas Wex and Quas Wex Quas would correspond with the Portal and Betrayal, respectively, whereas for the current Invoker, both would correspond with Ghost Walk.
- Old Invoker was inspired by a Warcraft 3 map called "Spellcraft". At the urging of the mapmaker Bug, who was involved with Dota's development at the time, Guinsoo created Old Invoker with the intent to release the hero in 6.00.
- It is rumored that the daunting scope of the hero, however, bogged down development and in this sense was a contributing factor to Guinsoo's departure. It was not until 6.10, when IceFrog was the lead developer, that Old Invoker would finally be released to the public, initially as a Radiant hero before being switched to Dire.
- After several patches and balance changes, Old Invoker was removed from Dota in 6.18 for a number of reasons, most notably due to his unwieldiness, engine-related bugs, and difficulty to balance.

So begins a new age of knowledge.
- This version of Invoke belonged to Invoker before he was removed in the gameplay patch 6.18.
- Invoke can be leveled once only, from level 6 on.
- Can only have one spell invoked at a time.
- Invoking a spell resets that spell's cooldown.
- However, when invoking the spell which is currently already invoked, nothing happens, wasting the mana and cooldown.
- All invoked spell have the same Legacy Keys (V).
Icy Path (Pre 6.18)[]
Ability
Target Point
Target Point
Affects
Enemies
Enemies
Creates an icy path that slows enemy units that cross it. The caster's allies and heroes are free to cross the wall. Duration and casting range increase per level of Quas.
- The wall is always created in front of Invoker, perpendicular to the line between Invoker and the targeted point.
- Creates 11 wall segments, with a spacing of 75 between each, resulting in a total length of 800. Each segment affects a 105 radius around them.
- So the wall's effective length is 960 (750 wall length + 105 radius from both sides).
- Each segment possesses a movement speed slowing aura. Its debuff lingers for 2-4 seconds.
- Icy Path is not a pathing blocker. Any unit can pass through it.
Portal (Pre 6.18)[]
- The target is moved to Invoker's cast position, not his current position. This means that moving during the effect delay does not influence the destination.
- The teleport interrupts channeling spells, but does not disjoint projectiles.
- Deals damage before it moves the target.
- Cannot be cast on ancient creeps and creep-heroes.
Frost Nova (Pre 6.18)[]
Blasts enemy units with a wave of frost that deals damage to the target, based on Quas level. Deals area of effect damage and slows.
- The primary target takes the primary damage and the area damage, resulting in 75/150/225/300/375/450/525/600 damage (before reductions).
Betrayal (Pre 6.18)[]
Ability
Target Unit
Target Unit
Affects
Enemies
Enemies
Casts a dark magic on a target enemy, causing all of its previous allies to turn against it, thinking it's a foe. Duration based on Quas.
Cast Range: 800
Duration (Quas): 1.5/3/4.5/6/7.5/9/10.5/12
- This ability causes the target's faction to change so that it is hostile to every unit in the game.
- This means that everyone may attack the target and the target may attack anyone, and AoE abilities treat them as valid targets.
- Since no actual taunt is applied, players can simply order their units to not attack the target.
- However, every unit not controlled by a player (both factions' lane creeps, towers and fountains and neutral creeps) do attack the target like a usual enemy.
- This also goes for any player-controlled unit which auto-attacks nearby enemies.
- Has no effect when cast on neutral targets.
- Betrayal does not disable the target in any way.
- The kill is credited to whoever makes the last hit.
Tornado Blast (Pre 6.18)[]
Summons a tornado to wreak havoc and damage enemy units over a long distance. Deals damage over a range based on Quas.
- The tornado travels at a speed of 900 and always travels the full distance, so it takes 0.27/0.55/0.83/1.11/1.38/1.66/1.94/2.22 seconds to reach the max distance.
- The complete area is shaped like a cone.
- Can hit units up to 550/800/1050/1300/1550/1800/2050/2300 range away (travel distance + 300 end radius).
Levitation (Pre 6.18)[]
- Turns Invoker invulnerable during the cast time and the duration and applies a basic dispel on him. After 0.5 seconds, he is also paused and loses pathing.
- The ability cannot be canceled. Once cast, it is executed no matter what.
- The minimum possible duration is 2.8 seconds, since all 3 reagents need to be level 1 in order to invoke this ability.
- Can last up to 9.1 seconds when all 3 reagents are at max level.
Power Word (Pre 6.18)[]
Ability
Target Unit
Target Unit
Affects
Allies / Enemies
Allies / Enemies
Applies a magic that weakens or strengthens a unit's resistance to physical attacks. Increases a friendly unit's armor or decreases an enemy unit's armor by an amount based on Quas.
Invisibility Aura (Pre 6.18)[]
Shroud of Flames (Pre 6.18)[]
- Blocks damage before any reductions, except when spell immune, during which it does not block any damage.
- Whenever a unit within 400 range begins an attack on the shielded unit, a cone of flames is released towards its direction, damaging every unit it hits.
- This effect has no cooldown and also triggers on allied attacks, though it only damages enemies.
- The fire travels at a speed of 1050.
- The damage area is shaped like a cone.
- The flame cones can hit units up to 325/355/385/415/445/475/505/535 range away (travel distance + 125 end radius).
- Before 6.12, this ability increased magic resistance by 4%/8%/12%/16%/20%/24%/28%/32%, instead of applying a magical damage barrier.
Mana Burn (Pre 6.18)[]
- Mana Burn's effects are delayed by 0.25 seconds, so it can be avoided by turning spell immune, invulnerable or hidden after cast.
- Applies the damage first, and then the mana loss.
- Despite dealing the damage first, the damage is based on how much mana the target actually lost from Mana Burn.
EMP (Pre 6.18)[]
- Upon cast, Invoker releases an energy ball 60 range in front of him towards the direction he is facing. The ball travels to a point 660 range in front of Invoker upon cast.
- The ball travels at a speed of 250, reaching the point after 2.4 seconds. Another 0.6 seconds later, it detonates.
- 1 second later, every enemy unit within a 575 radius of the ball loses mana, including spell immune and invulnerable units.
- The ball's pathing can be obstructed by cliffs and trees. In this case, it tries to travel around the cliff/trees, potentially detonating at a different location if it does not have time to reach the intended location.
- The minimum possible mana loss is 100 seconds, since both reagents need to be level 1 in order to invoke this ability.
- Can burn up to 800 mana when both reagents are at max level.
- The ball provides 1000/750 radius flying vision, which lingers for 4.5 seconds.
Soul Blast (Pre 6.18)[]
Telelightning (Pre 6.18)[]
- The damage is delayed by 0.25 seconds, while the teleport is delayed by 0.1 seconds.
- This means the damage can be avoided by turning spell immune, invulnerable or hidden after cast.
- However, the teleport cannot be avoided.
- The teleport does not disjoint projectiles.
Shock (Pre 6.18)[]
- Applies a basic dispel on all enemies within the radius upon cast.
- The dispel and slow are instant, while the damage is delayed by 0.15 seconds.
- The slow decreases over 5 intervals, so it slows for 100%/80%/60%/40%/20%, going one step down every 0.2 seconds.
- Provides 1000/750 radius flying vision on each target upon cast, which lasts for 6 seconds.
- Also provides 900 radius True Sight around each targeted unit, which lasts for 3 seconds.
Arcane Arts (Pre 6.18)[]
- Stacks with other sources of magic resistance.
- Increases Invoker's total magic resistance to 32.5%/40%/47.5%/55%/62.5%/70%/77.5%/85%.

Energy Ball (Pre 6.18)[]
- The energy ball spawns at a height of 60 and slowly rises upward into the air at 150 speed up to a height of 500 during the delay. The ball is visible to everyone.
- After the delay, the ball launches projectiles towards every enemy unit with a 300 radius.
- The projectiles travel at as speed of 500.
- Provides 600 radius flying vision upon cast for 64.44 seconds.
Lightning Shield (Pre 6.18)[]
- Deals damage to enemy and allied units alike. Does not damage wards, buildings and the unit the shield was put on.
- Multiple shields can damage the same units.
- Deals 5/10/15/20/25/30/35/40 damage in 0.5 second intervals.
Chaos Meteor (Pre 6.18)[]
Summons a powerful meteor to crush all enemies within its path. Deals damage per second to units in its path based on Exort.
Cast Range: 1000
Effect Radius: 250
Travel Distance: 1250
Effect Delay: 1.5

- The meteor can hit units up to 1500 range away (1250 travel distance + 250 radius).
- The visual effects and the sound during the effect delay (the meteor falling from the sky) are visible and audible to everyone.
- The meteor rolls at a speed of 250 and always rolls the full distance, so it takes 5 seconds to reach the max distance.
- After landing, the meteor deals 2.5/5/7.5/10/12.5/15/17.5/20 damage in 0.05 second intervals and leaves a fiery trail behind.
- The burning trail lasts for 5 seconds and deals 4 damage in 0.05 second intervals.
- The main damage can deal up to 250/500/750/1000/1250/1500/1750/2000 damage (before reductions) when a unit is hit by all 100 instances.
- The trail can deal up to 800 damage (before reductions) (200 possible instances, possible by following the meteor and standing at the trail's end).
- The Chaos Meteor provides 400 radius flying vision while it is rolling. This vision does not last.
- Also provides the same vision for 3 seconds after reaching its max travel distance.
- Destroys trees within a 300 radius as the meteor rolls over them.
Confuse (Pre 6.18)[]
EQW - Confuse (Pre 6.18)
DV
Ability
Target Point
Target Point
- Creates 2 illusions at the targeted point. One of them is selectable and fully targetable, the other is unselectable and invulnerable.
- The second illusion lasts twice as long as the first one. Although it is at the exact same spot as the first illusion, the random animations make it visible below it.
- Both illusions are paused, means they are unable to move and attack and buff and debuff durations do not tick down.
- The illusions are independent from each other. When the first illusion is destroyed, the second still lasts its full duration.
- Both illusions have their pathing disabled, means they cannot block other units.
- The illusion takes purge damage.
- Provides 1000/750 radius vision upon cast at Invoker's location for 60 seconds.

Soul Reaver (Pre 6.18)[]
- Upon cast, instantly deals the initial damage, grants Invoker the movement speed bonus and launches a projectile.
- The projectile travels at a speed of 1000.
- This projectile applies a debuff on the target which lasts for 8 seconds. When it expires, it deals the secondary damage to the target.
- This means the damage is delayed by projectile travel time + debuff duration.
Firestorm (Pre 6.18)[]
Calls a number of magical fireballs from the sky to land around Kael based on Exort level. Deals 30 damage to units that lay beneath it, and leaves a magical fireball remaining. This ball damages nearby units with fire, with damage and radius based on Exort level. When the fireball expires, it deals area damage.

Explosion Radius: 200
Explosion Damage: 150
Fireball Duration: 7.5
- The fireballs spawn at a random spot within the 250 spawn radius. Fireballs spawn with a 0.15 second interval between each other.
- This means the channeling time takes up to 0.3/0.6/0.9/1.2/1.5/1.8/2.1/2.4 seconds. Canceling the channeling causes the remaining fireballs to not spawn.
- Upon spawning, the fireballs deal 30 magical damage around them and mini-stun for 0.01 seconds.
- The fireballs last for 7.5 seconds, during which they magical deal damage over time to nearby enemies.
- After the 7.5 seconds, the fireballs explode, dealing composite damage around them 0.3 seconds after exploding.
