Traps and damages enemies in a black hole.
A mystery worthy of his name, Enigma could only be described as a being of the void, a beast between planes. He draws aspects of himself from other dimensions, performing Demonic Summonings, commanding an ever-present contingent of Eidolons. The ground darkens under a Midnight Pulse, and foes are stunned by the unseen enchantments and Malefices as they try to flee its entropic effects. One legend has it that Enigma is actually the first collapsed star. This theory grows more plausible as Enigma begins to channel a cosmic singularity, pulling and entrapping all except himself into the super-dense center of his Black Hole.

Bio
▶️ "Chaos hunts the spark of endless suns, whose light will die in my crushing grasp."
Lore:
Nothing is known of Enigma's background. There are only stories and legends, most of them apocryphal, passed down through the ages. In truth, Enigma is a mystery for whom the only true biography is description: he is a universal force, a consumer of worlds. He is a being of the void, at times corporeal, other times ethereal. A beast between the planes.
There are stories that say he was once a great alchemist who tried to unlock the secrets of the universe and was cursed for his arrogance. Other legends tell that he is an ancient being of strange gravity, the abyss personified—a twisted voice from out the original darkness, before the first light in the universe. And there are older legends that say he is the first collapsed star, a black hole grown complicated and sentient—his motivations unknowable, his power inexorable, a force of destruction unleashed upon existence itself.

Abilities
Malefice
Focuses Enigma's power on a target, causing it to take damage and become repeatedly stunned for multiple instances. An instance strikes every 2 seconds.
Instance Interval: 2
Increases Malefice stun duration by 0.3s and creates an Eidolon next to the target every instance of Malefice stun. These Eidolons will not multiply further.
Demonic Summoning must be drafted for Eidolons to be created.
Strange gravities pull at the core of those who would oppose you, holding them in place.
- The first instance occurs upon cast, and then every 2 seconds.
- On each interval, Malefice first applies the damage, then the stun.
-
- Malefice now creates a Lesser Eidolon based on the current level of Demonic Summoning per stun instance. Can create a maximum of 3 ( 7) Lesser Eidolons for its duration.
- Lesser Eidolons created this way cannot multiply but their duration is still refreshed after its 7th attack projectile launch.
- Demonic Summoning notes fully apply. If it is not leveled, no Eidolons are created.
-
- Can deal up to 165/210/255/300 ( 270/315/360/405) damage (before reductions).
- TALENTWith the number of instances increasing talent, it can deal up to 385/490/595/700 damage.
- With both talents, it can deal up to 630/735/840/945 damage.
- Successive casts do not stack but refresh the duration and continue damaging in the same intervals as the first cast.
- Lesser Eidolon summoned are based on Enigma's current ability level when acquired.
Demonic Summoning
Summons three fragments of Enigma himself at the cost of health. These eidolons are all under Enigma's control, and repeated successful attacks cause them to multiply. When this happens, the eidolons have their health restored.
Enigma is capable of drawing aspects of himself from other dimensions - the result is a trio of dark eidolons that hunt the corporeal plane.

- Does not instantly kill the previous summons if this ability is used again before the previous Eidolons expire.
- The Eidolons spawned are always in the same formation, 0° facing east.
- Upon cast, Demonic Summoning spawns three groups of Eidolons with 1 Eidolon in each group, 100 range away from the targeted position to its right, left, and backside.
- COSMETICGeodesic Eidolons spawn instantly regardless of its spawn animations.
- TALENTThe number of Eidolons increasing talent still spawn three groups of Eidolons in the same formation.
- The left and right group each have 3 Eidolons, while the group at the backside has 2 Eidolons.
- Only attacking the following units count toward the first 6 attacks required to multiply:
- Heroes, clones, creep-heroes and creeps.
- Ward-type units.
- Neither count attacks against buildings nor ally units.
- The attack is counted upon projectile launch, not upon projectile hit. Therefore, it does not matter whether the attack actually hits the target or not.
- Eidolons multiply upon their 7th attack projectile launch, regardless of whether the attacked target is a valid one (e.g. while attacking a building).
- When multiplying, the original summoned Eidolon's health created from the ability is refreshed by setting health, then it creates new Eidolons that cannot multiply.
- Since Eidolon(s) multiplying is not considered as death, buffs and debuffs are neither dispelled, nor projectiles are disjointed.
- The original summoned Eidolons' duration is also not refreshed when multiplying.
- However, the newly created Eidolon's duration gets increased by 2 seconds.
- The Eidolon's name progresses as follows per Demonic Summoning level:
Lesser Eidolon
➜Eidolon
➜Greater Eidolon
➜Dire Eidolon
.
- Current health as cost is considered as setting health and it is non-lethal. Therefore, this ability can be cast even with 1 health.
Midnight Pulse
Steeps an area in dark resonance, damaging enemy units based on their current HP.
Base Damage per Second: 5/10/15/20
Current Health as Damage per Second: 4%/6%/8%/10%

A section of the world slowly descends into the void.
- The damage is provided by an aura and its debuff lingers for 9/10/11/12 seconds.
- Midnight Pulse deals damage in 0.5-second intervals, starting 0.5 second after cast, resulting in 1.08/1.12/1.16/1.2 instances.
- Can deal up to 1124%/4783069%/20661046884%/1.1649025889832E+14% of the affected units' current health as damage (before reductions).
- Does not affect ancient creeps and wards.
- The debuff from successive casts does not stack but extends its duration and continues damaging in the same intervals as the first cast.
- Destroys trees within the effect radius at the target location upon cast.
Black Hole
Summons a vortex that sucks in nearby enemy units. Enemies affected by Black Hole cannot move, attack, or cast spells.
Max Channel Time: 4
Inner Pull Speed: 30
Aura Linger Duration: 0.5
Black Hole deals additional damage equivalent to 3.5% of the unit's Max Health per second and does a non-interrupting pull towards it in a 1200 AoE. Pulls at a rate of 175.

Death
The ground trembles as Enigma channels his ultimate vortex of destruction, a singularity with the power to end worlds.
- Spirals affected units counterclockwise towards the center at a speed of 30, resulting in a maximum possible distance of 120.
- The closer the units are to the center, the stronger they get pulled to the center, with almost no pull, but only rotation at max close distance.
- Therefore, the inner radius spirals the affected heroes at 14.32° per second, while the outer radius spirals the affected heroes at 5.73° per second. [?]
- Can pull affected units over impassable terrain and through trees without destroying them.
- Units inside Black Hole can be pulled out by various abilities.
- However, the following abilities or items cannot move units out of Black Hole: Force Staff, Hurricane Pike, Snowball, Dispose and Geomagnetic Grip.
- The pull and disable are provided by an aura, which lingers for 0.5 seconds, or until the channeling stops, whichever is shorter.
- Provides 800 range ground vision at the targeted point for 4 seconds upon cast.
- Deals damage in 1-second intervals, starting 1 second after cast, resulting in 4 instances.
- Can deal up to 400/600/800 ( 600/800/1000) + 14% of max health as damage (before reductions).
- The max health as damage is added to the main damage and dealt together in one instance.
- Roshan can only be affected by the base damage per second.
- Black Hole now also spirals enemies within a 1200 radius counterclockwise in at a speed of 175, resulting in a maximum possible distance of 700.
- The pull towards the center gets stronger the closer the affected units are to it.
- However, unlike the pull within the main area, this pull spirals much weaker and goes more toward the center.
- The outer pull is provided by a separate aura, which also lingers for 0.5 seconds, or until the channeling stops, whichever is shorter.
- This aura does not affect enemies that are affected by the main Black Hole modifier.
- Affects the Tree Dance unit, but does not unperch it.
- Pull affected enemies over impassable terrain, but does not grant unobstructed movement.
- Does not pull affected enemies when they are affected by other disabling forced movement sources.
- Does not impede affected enemies at all and they can still turn, attack, and cast abilities.

Recommended Items
Starting Items:
- Clarity provides mana to produce Eidolons in the early game.
- Tango provides some health regeneration to keep Enigma in jungle or hold the lane.
- Enchanted Mango grants mana to use Demonic Conversion in lane.
- Gauntlets of Strength a pair of those can easily turn into a Bracer or Soul Ring while also giving you survival on off-laning.
- Magic Stick helps in the jungle since it gains charges from neutral creeps casting their abilities, restoring health and mana to Enigma.
- Boots of Speed help Enigma get into position to use Black Hole.
Early game:
- Wind Lace can be kept for its movement speed bonus or can be worked towards any item recipe including it.
- Magic Wand is a cost effective upgrade from Magic Stick.
- Soul Ring is a great source of mana, allowing him to use his Demonic Conversion as often as possible. Enigma does not mind the health cost since he does not often go close to enemies as his abilities and Eidolons have good cast range and attack range.
- Arcane Boots is a small upgrade for Boots of Speed by providing extra mana and can be combined with Mekansm for Guardian Greaves. If you guaranteed a Soul Ring, alternatively, Arcane Boots can get disassembled for an Aether Lens later.
Mid game:
- Magic Wand is a cost effective upgrade from Magic Stick.
- Blade Mail will allow Enigma to return the damage to anyone who tries to attack him while also giving him good attack damage and armor. Blade Mail's ability to return damage can be used while channeling Black Hole, which can make enemies think twice before attacking Enigma while channeling Black Hole.
- Blink Dagger helps your positioning greatly and helps to pull off a good Black Hole. Might need to be rushed way early by pushing lanes with Eidolons.
- Aghanim's Scepter will allow Enigma's Black Hole to deal damage equivalent to 3.5% of the unit's Max Health per second and to do a non-interrupting that can pull enemy heroes towards it in a 1200 radius, at a rate of 175.
- Dagon can give Enigma spell lifesteal, allowing him to heal himself with his abilities and a magical damage burst to finish off enemy heroes if they survive Black Hole.
Late game:
- Black King Bar grants debuff immunity so the enemies cannot easily interrupt Black Hole. It applies a basic dispel on activation to shake off most simple debuffs like plain silence and prevent further disabler casts when heading out for the combo.
- Guardian Greaves allows a slot to be freed, provides a steady supply of health and mana regeneration to the team, and increases Enigma's survivability. Aside from healing and replenishing mana for the team, the Mend ability will apply a basic dispel that helps his team when they are disabled or silenced.
- Refresher Orb gives Enigma high health and mana regeneration. The active allows Enigma to use Black Hole twice in one fight.
- Octarine Core to reduce the cooldown of Black Hole, putting constant pressure on the enemies with the frequent threat of Enigma's dangerous ultimate ability. Can be an alternative to Refresher at late game depending on dominance over the safe lanes for a come back.
- Aeon Disk can be an alternative to Linken's Sphere to endure damage and position when paired with any sort of invisibility buff or spell immunity like Black King Bar. Can be a safety net for unique aggro deflect abilities like Winter's Curse, Berserker's Call or Duel at late game or halt ferocious carry heroes.
- Aghanim's Shard will allow Malefice to stun enemy heroes for a longer duration and to summon an Eidolon at every instance of Malefice stun. Bear in mind, however that the Eidolons who spawn like this will not multiply further at all.
Situational items:
- Aether Lens grants Enigma additional cast range, allowing him to land his ultimate ability perhaps at much quicker speed without having to walk toward the team and also to keep him out of harm's way if he can position at higher ground.
- Veil of Discord can give Enigma nice attributes, bonus mana regeneration and the active ability to make enemy heroes take more spell damage from his abilities.
- Hand of Midas rewards bonus gold and experience so Enigma can gain access to powerful items and talents sooner by early to mid game.
- Solar Crest can be used for disabling the enemy carry early on, to suppress them or rushing Roshan faster with Medallion of Courage.
- Pipe of Insight can be an alternative to Mekansm at early game, and can be considered when the healing cannot out-do massed area nukes in a late game push. At late game, it should be built to compliment area of effect healing provided by teammates or complimentary to other healing items you have.
- Ethereal Blade will give Enigma bonus intelligence and will also amplify his mana regeneration and provide him with spell amplification. Ethereal Blade can also allow Enigma to disarm enemy heroes and make them more vulnerable to Malefice's and Midnight Pulse's magical damage output.
- Linken's Sphere is an alternative to Black King Bar for when the enemy team has disables that ignore spell immunity, such as Primal Roar and Doom or long-ranged position juggling effects like Nether Swap. When paired with Guardian Greaves, Enigma will have a reliable dispel at his service and can maintain safe distance. Consider casting its spell block to the other initiator when they're leading.
- Revenant's Brooch will increase Enigma's armor, attack speed, intelligence and attack projectile speed while passively providing him with true strike every 9 seconds. Revenant's Brooch can be activated to make Enigma's next five attacks have true strike, deal magic damage that can ignore armor and weaken the affected enemy's magic resistance by 20% for 3 seconds, making them more vulnerable to Malefice's and Midnight Pulse's magical damage output, and it can also allow Enigma to attack ethereal units.
- Gleipnir can give Enigma more health, intelligence, attack damage, and the ability to root enemies in an area, making them easier targets for Midnight Pulse and Black Hole while also passively allowing his attacks to release a chain lightning that can bounce between enemies, damaging them.
- Force Staff allow Enigma to initiate while suffering damage over time debuffs or very long-ranged mini-stuns that can cancel out Blink Dagger. Force Staff can later be upgraded into Hurricane Pike for an additional attack range.
- Hurricane Pike can give Enigma good attributes, escaping and chasing tool, and it can also give him extra attack range.

Trivia
- Many of Enigma's responses are references to Friedrich Nietzsche's works; ▶️ "I stare also into you." references a passage in "Beyond Good and Evil", where it is stated that "And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you".[1]
- Enigma's rival line towards Faceless Void ▶️ "Even time may fail in the face of gravity." is a reference to the time dilating effect of gravity.[2]
- Many of Enigma's responses are also references to concepts in cosmology (the Big Bang, gravity wells, redshifts, and black holes) or particle physics (path integrals, universal constants).
- In DotA, Enigma's hero name was "Darchrow", and "Enigma" was the title.
- In the transition to Dota 2, "Enigma" has been turned into the name, and the title was changed to "Consumer of Worlds".
- Enigma, Chaos Knight, Keeper of the Light, and Io together represent the four fundamental forces of the universe with Enigma representing the gravitational force.
- Most of Enigma's abilities reflect his theme of gravity, especially his ultimate ability Black Hole.
- Similarly, his name and lore as a mystery is a reference to gravity currently being the least understood of the four forces.
- The term "eidolon" comes from ancient greek literature, where it refers to a human-like phantom, the shade of one who died.
- Enigma's original voice (somewhere back in 2011) did not have the reverse feedback filter that his current voice has.[3]
- His old voice can be heard here.
