Void Spirit Guide Header.png

Void Spirit minimap icon.png Void Spirit is a tricky assassin whose abilities provide both offense and defense. His Resonant Pulse shields him from harm, while sending out a wave of damage upon cast. The Aether Remnants he sends out stand watch and pulls in enemies who get too close. Like his brothers, Void Spirit is a highly mobile hero. He can Dissimilate into portals, damaging enemies as he reappears. His ultimate can be used frequently, allowing him to Astral Step through enemies or out of danger. Being an intelligence hero, Void Spirit is relatively fragile compared to other melee fighters, and must combine his abilities cleverly to survive.
Pros Cons
  • Highly mobile.
  • Creates traps.
  • Burst AoE damage.
  • Very strong in lane against melee heroes due to his shield.
  • Very strong mid game.
  • Somewhat fragile.
  • Very reliant on magical damage.
  • Very susceptible to silences and stuns.
  • Falls off during later stages of the game.
  • Only his ultimate pierces spell immunity.

  • This attack damage talent is added as raw attack damage, so it does not benefit illusions, and is not affected by most percentage-based damage increasing or reducing effects.

Tips & Tactics[edit]

  • Although you are very mobile, keep in mind that you are still fragile, so always have a backup plan to escape.
  • In terms of talents:
    • Level 10 talents: If you find yourself using Astral Step a lot, hitting enemies with more right-clicks than usual, or just need some help farming, the +30 Damage talent might be the way to go. However, if you find yourself using your spells and items more often than your right-clicks, it might help to get the +3 Mana Regen talent.
    • Level 15 talents: If the enemy team mostly has melee heroes, the +100 Resonant Pulse Damage is good against them, as it forces them to back away to avoid getting hit. However, if you're dealing with heroes that tend to build invisibility items (like Sniper minimap icon.png Sniper or Slark minimap icon.png Slark) or have abilities that make them invisible (like Riki minimap icon.png Riki or Bounty Hunter minimap icon.png Bounty Hunter), the Remnant provides 600 True Sight talent might be more beneficial to prevent them from easily escaping.
    • Level 20 talents: If you find yourself using Astral Step a lot, the -7 Astral Step Charge Restore Time talent will certainly help you. If you're using your other spells more often though, the 15% Spell Amplification is a good option to further boost their damage.
    • Level 25 talents: If you're with allies that have disables like Reverse Polarity or Berserker's Call, it can set the enemy team up for an additional 3 second stun from Dissimilate. However, if there aren't such allies on your team or if you're focusing on dealing damage, the Astral Step 200% Crit talent will definitely be the way to go.

Aether Remnant[edit]

  • Set Aether Remnants to pull enemies into towers if they get too close, which discourages risky plays and dives.
  • Use Aether Remnants on high ground and choke points to catch enemies unawares.
  • Use Aether Remnants ahead of a fleeing target to pull them back towards Void Spirit.
  • Use Aether Remnants to prevent mobile heroes from escaping or teleporting away.
  • Tips needed.

  • Use Dissimilate to dodge spells. It has a very long phase duration so it is very easy to dodge most spells.
  • Don´t overuse Dissimilate in lane for harass. It´s a very mana expensive spell. only use it if you are sure you can get the kill or if you have to disengage.
  • Use Dissimilate to get from low ground to high ground when being chased
  • Tips needed.

Resonant Pulse[edit]

  • Use Resonant Pulse right after Dissimilate or Astral Step to deal burst damage.
  • If your lane has enemy melee heroes, you can punish them with Resonant Pulse if they choose to go for a last hit.
  • Tips needed.

Astral Step[edit]

  • Astral Step's low cooldown means it can be used to escape, especially by stepping through terrain like cliffs.
  • Use Astral Step´s early level 6 power spike to apply pressure in lane and get kills.
  • Don´t use both charges back to back when going for a kill, as this will waste the slow duration. Attack your target in between charges for maximum slow and damage output.
  • Tips needed.

Starting items:

  • Tango icon.png Tango keeps Void Spirit alive in lane.
  • Enchanted Mango icon.png Enchanted Mango helps him spam his abilities on enemy heroes in laning phase.
  • Healing Salve icon.png Healing Salve is essential for any hero in the laning phase.
  • Quelling Blade icon.png Quelling Blade helps him obtain last hits more easily in lane.

Early game:

  • Ring of Basilius (Active) icon.png Ring of Basilius keeps Void Spirit's mana pool high and builds into Veil of Discord.
  • Phase Boots icon.png Phase Boots help Void Spirit chase enemies down and make him even more resilient against attacks.
  • Bottle (Full) icon.png Bottle is useful for sustaining Void Spirit in the mid lane and storing runes.

Mid game:

  • Kaya icon.png Kaya gives Void Spirit increased attack and spell damage, along with reduced mana costs to sustain his spellcasting.
  • Veil of Discord icon.png Veil of Discord augments Void Spirit's area of effect spell damage, letting him nuke down enemy teams faster.
  • Maelstrom icon.png Maelstrom is a great item for farming and pushing and also increases your damage in fights with Astral Step.
  • Orchid Malevolence icon.png Orchid Malevolence grants you a silence and damage amplification to use with your abilities on a single target, also granting large amounts of mana regen to spam your abilities. This can be easily upgraded later into a Bloodthorn icon.png Bloodthorn if you have the gold.

Late game:

  • Black King Bar icon.png Black King Bar is a good defensive item for him as he can be shut down with silences and magical bursts.
  • Linken's Sphere icon.png Linken's Sphere saves Void Spirit from immediate, single targeted disables (like Scythe of Vyse icon.png Scythe of Vyse) that can lead him to death before he can activate Black King Bar icon.png Black King Bar.
  • Bloodstone icon.png Bloodstone is a great option to upgrade your Kaya icon.png Kaya. Not only is it item-slot efficient, but it also allows you to spam your spells even more, as well as give you even more spell damage.
  • Shiva's Guard icon.png Shiva's Guard is a good item for you and your team. The armor synergises with Resonant Pulse (armor is calculated before the shield HP). It also gives great stats and you can spread the slow to everyone on the enemy team with your high mobility.
  • Abyssal Blade icon.png Abyssal Blade is a good item as you not only gain a damage block, but a guaranteed stun which could be followed up with a Dissimilate for escape or damage. Your Astral Step further works with this item by potentially proccing the passive bash.

Situational items:

  • Radiance (Active) icon.png Radiance continues to do damage while Void Spirit is using Dissimilate. The damage emanates from Void Spirit's original position before using Dissimilate.
  • Octarine Core icon.png Octarine Core raises health and mana for sustainability. The Cooldown Reduction and Spell Lifesteal allows Void Spirit to keep himself healthy.
  • Scythe of Vyse icon.png Scythe of Vyse grants attributes, intelligence, and mana regeneration to let Void Spirit use more abilities. The active Hex disables a dangerous target and sets up Dissimilate.
  • Desolator icon.png Desolator improves the damage of Astral Step, which can also spread the armor debuff to multiple enemies.
  • Eul's Scepter of Divinity icon.png Eul's Scepter of Divinity is a good choice against mobile targets or heroes with silences that can shut you down. Not only does it provide an escape against these heroes, but it can also be used as a setup for Aether Remnant.
