Poison Attack (Pre 7.23)

Intensifies Viper's venom, adding an effect to his normal attack that slows attack and movement speed while dealing damage over time based on the amount of health the target is missing.

Does not pierce spell immunity. Slow persists and attempts to damage if debuff was placed before spell immunity and when not dispelled.
Modifiers
Buff modifier_viper_poison_attack: Undispellable. Persists death.
Debuff modifier_viper_poison_attack_slow: Dispellable with any dispel.
The Netherdrake's inborn toxic breath quickly drains the vitality of its afflicted.

Notes:

  • Casting Poison Attack manually uses the 600 (Talent 725) cast range. Attacking normally with Poison Attack on autocast uses Viper's 575 (Talent 700) attack range.
  • Deals damage in 1 second intervals, starting 1 second after the debuff is applied, resulting in 3 damage instances.
  • The damage is based on the target's current to maximum health ratio. For each percentage of missing health, the damage increases.
    • For example, a target with 400/1000 health will take 30/45/60/75 damage on the next tick, since it is missing 60% health.
  • Successive casts of Poison Attack on the same target do not stack, only the debuff gets refreshed.
  • The attacks first apply the debuff, then their own damage.
  • The level 20 Talent talent allows Poison Attack to target buildings, damaging and slowing them.


Nethertoxin (7.07-7.22h)

Poison from the Nether Reaches turns wounds into fatalities, and fatigue into death.

Notes:

  • This ability was reworked into the current Nethertoxin in the 7.23 gameplay patch.
  • Nethertoxin's projectile travels at a speed of 2000.
  • All effects of Nethertoxin (including the damage) are provided by an aura. Its debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds.
  • Reduces most heroes' total magic resistance to 18%/14%/10%/6%, assuming basic 25% magic resistance and no other sources of magic resistance.
  • Deals damage in 1-second intervals, starting 1 second after receiving the debuff, resulting in up to 8 instances.
  • Multiple instances of Nethertoxin's debuff do not stack.
  • When leveling up the ability, the magic resistance reduction and damage on already affected units do not update.
    • However, if an enemy receives the debuff after leveling it up, that enemy receives the new magic resistance reduction and damage values.
    • Choosing the talent which adds the silence immediately updates all already existing debuffs.


Nethertoxin (Pre 7.07)
Cannot be used by illusions. Disabled by Break. Pierces spell immunity.

Nethertoxin causes Viper's normal attack to deal bonus damage to units based on how much health they are missing. The bonus damage doubles for each 20% of health missing from the target. Nethertoxin deals half damage to creeps and buildings.

Notes:

  • This ability was reworked into the following Nethertoxin in the 7.07 gameplay patch.
  • The bonus damage is dealt in one instance together with the attack damage, and counts as attack damage as well.
    • It can be lifestealed off of, and is considered by crit or cleave.
    • It is not affected by percentage-based attack damage bonuses or reductions, but can be reduced with flat reductions.
  • Nethertoxin checks the attack target's health as the attack begins, not as the projectile is launched or hits.
  • This is how much damage Nethertoxin deals on each level against heroes (and non-heroes) at certain health percentages:
    • 100%–80% Health: 3/6/9/12 (1.5/3/4.5/6)
    • 80%–60% Health: 6/12/18/24 (3/6/9/12)
    • 60%–40% Health: 12/24/36/48 (6/12/18/24)
    • 40%–20% Health: 24/48/72/96 (12/24/36/48)
    • 20%–0% Health: 48/96/144/192 (24/48/72/96)

Notes:

  • Heals each target 0.25 seconds after having bounced to it, including the initial target.
  • Can never heal the same unit twice per cast.
  • This is how much each bounce heals on each level:
    • Level 1: 120 / 90 / 67.5
    • Level 2: 195 / 145.25 / 109.69 / 82.27
    • Level 3: 250 / 187.5 / 140.63 / 105.47 / 79.1
    • Level 4: 325 / 243.75 / 182.81 / 137.11 / 102.83 / 77.12
  • All bounces together can heal up to 277.5 / 532.2 / 762.7 / 1068.63 health.
