Are you in the Beta?[edit]

I don't see Dota 2 in your Steam profile. Do you have a beta key? --Kroocsiogsi 16:05, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm not, actually, but I've been getting really into the game's development. I do my research whenever I make a change to ensure its accuracy, since I can't actually test things out for myself. --Pigbuster 17:18, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Map and Lane articles[edit]

I have taken the liberty of deleting Map, which contained little of value that Buildings and Lane did not, and merging what useful content was left into Lane. Then I rewrote Lane, which contained (like Map) some errors. Your map will be an excellent addition, with, I think, two modifications. (One modification, to the location of the creep lines, I was pleased to see you already did!) Firstly, the location of the towers is really essential information on this map; they should be denoted. Secondly, long and short lanes are mislabeled, because our article was incorrect, because TONS OF PEOPLE use these terms interchangeably. I am of the opinion that we should copy the long/short definition from http://www.playdota.com/learn/lanes, although I should probably add a note to the article about that. --Kroocsiogsi 23:59, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Aw yeah, baby. ---Kroocsiogsi 01:17, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

A guy named killershark has a surprise for you[edit]

Accept him on steam. --Kroocsiogsi 06:48, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Leave a note on my talk page when you accept it, killershark is me. Redefining history 06:51, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
There you go! Redefining history 07:05, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
:D Pity I'm a tad busy, but I'll see if I can get to that because ooh. Thank you!! --Pigbuster 07:13, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Rival/Ally lines[edit]

FYI: You can check what hero triggers the rival/ally line by checking the response rules file in \scripts\talker. :-) --Kroocsiogsi 21:17, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

So you can! Thanks for that. --Pigbuster 21:23, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

<sm2> tags now understand wiki-style variables[edit]

--Kroocsiogsi 17:44, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

You seem to like doing little images[edit]

I'm going to add Orb Effect/Unique Attack Modifier icons to the ability boxes up near the bkb/linken block icons. Any ideas for what icon I should use? I was thinking Orb of Venom, but I'm not sure it would be that great. Let me know if you think of anything! - Nickoladze 18:40, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Ooh, good idea! It would probably be easiest for me to make the icon myself since I already have a Photoshop file that's all set up for those icons, so let me go try making an Orb of Venom one right now. Even though almost no one actually uses Orb of Venom, it's still really recognizable, so I think it works. --Pigbuster 18:53, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Doop. File:Uam symbol.png --Pigbuster 19:01, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Yeah that looks good, thanks! I'm doing a huge huge overhaul of the ability template system and I'll work this in. - Nickoladze 19:18, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
I noticed you were working on something! Are you going to modify Template:Ability yourself or could I take care of that? There are a couple other changes I'd like to make as well: Adding the SkillboxMinimal code in as a variation so we won't need two separate templates, and merging item/npc/ultimate into a single "style" variable. From what I've seen of your redesign, a simple find/replace should be able to fix the problems those changes would cause. --Pigbuster 19:26, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Take a look at User:Nickoladze/Sandbox/AbilityInfo to see how it will be used. I'll be merging Template:AbilityBox into Template:Ability eventually. AbilityBox already supports 2 different layout styles (one isn't done), and I did plan on merging SkillboxMinimal code at some point. Good idea with "style", I don't have any npc/item/neutral creep abilities added yet. The main purpose of this whole thing is to avoid repeated information which is a huge problem for our abilities right now. You can call "{{AbilityInfo|Waveform|cooldown}}" from any page to get "Template:AbilityInfo". - Nickoladze 19:33, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh yeah, you can merge them if you wanted to. Just make sure all the pages don't break in the process. Maybe do some sort of switch at the top so that if Template:Ability is given more than 1 argument, display the old style. Otherwise, display the new single-argument style. Might work. - Nickoladze 19:35, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Nice gold symbol, I added it. Feel free to do some redesigns on those Guide templates if you want (I'm leaving in a sec), I also told Kroocsiogsi he can make some changes if he wants. BTW, you should jump in IRC sometime. - Nickoladze 19:08, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I probably should sometime. I'm just so used to interacting solely through discussion pages and exceedingly long edit comments. :p --Pigbuster 19:16, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Got any ideas for This? I'm unsure if I want an icon there, or what it would even be. Feel free to change some stuff around if you get inspired. - Nickoladze 19:38, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Are you well-versed in heavy wiki stuff like Semantic MediaWiki? I know you're somewhat high up on other wikis. Just wondering. - Nickoladze 19:43, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm not, unfortunately. It seems kinda neat, though! --Pigbuster 19:53, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Hey, it's been nearly a year since I last left you text here! Anyways, I whipped up some purge icons for the Ability boxes (Template:Symbol) and I was wondering if you can touch them up a bit. Feel free to re-make from scratch if you think mine suck. I think the desaturated ones just need to be lightened. Thanks! -- Nickoladze 22:56, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Aw man, yeah. Sorry for never getting around to that, I got wrapped up in other things. I'll upload new versions of them (yours are fine, but it's easiest to recreate them from scratch), though it kinda bothers me how illegible diffusal blade seems when it's greyed out. I might just be worrying too much! --Pigbuster 23:19, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

FYI, about that hero table[edit]

SMW isn't actually installed, so it won't really work. I know you're not in IRC, but we were talking about mocking up what the source of that page would look like if we did have it installed. :-) --Kroocsiogsi 21:07, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

That's exactly the same thing I was doing so... I should probably go to IRC before doing things like that. :p --Pigbuster 21:10, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Change to Hero infobox parameters[edit]

I think it was you who suggested changing the name of "main". Anyways, Template_talk:Hero_infobox#Proposed_parameter_name_changes. --Kroocsiogsi 18:23, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

BASEPAGENAME for sounds[edit]

It looks like you probably already realized why BASEPAGENAME won't work for sounds. Just in case you reverted for an unrelated reason: we have items like Bottle that have two sounds. --Kroocsiogsi 01:18, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I decided not to go with that. The Ability template is used so often that I worried doing it automatically like that would mean some Ability box somewhere would get a sound I didn't expect it to, and BASEPAGENAME wouldn't work for giving sounds to hero abilities if we decide to do that in the future. --Pigbuster 01:28, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Undying Responses[edit]

We pull the lines right from the subtitle files, so the lines should be close to 100% perfect. If you're sure it's a typo, then you can change them. - Nickoladze 23:43, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Were there actually subtitles for the gummy vitamin lines? I thought those didn't have any because they're easter eggs and someone just put in their own. If so, I stand corrected, though "a lot like" makes more sense than "not like". Sounds like it, too. --Pigbuster 23:51, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Oh if they were added, then go ahead and correct them. I just put exactly what was in the files. - Nickoladze 01:22, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello there. Just a quick note: you can find subtitles here: Steam\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\resource\subtitles_(hero name)_english.txt Viperys 03:57, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Minimap lanes image.[edit]

Hey pigbuster, could you update File:Minimap_Lanes.png if you still have the original source file, replacing the long/short lane terminology with 'easy' and 'hard' lane? Thanks -RJ 14:02, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

I was wondering if I should make that change! Done. --Pigbuster 20:10, 6 February 2013 (UTC)
