WRONG INFO[edit]

Your posting wrong INFO. THOSE COURIERS DONT COME IN 2 STYLES

Cosmetic Items[edit]

They used to exist on dota_english.txt, for about 3 days. Valve decided to remove any clues about it. But yeah, if you find more info feel free to add on the list. Redefining history 15:14, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello[edit]

Not meaning to bother you but, there's a rampant little guy in the Recent Changes log. Have a look and see. Arbok77 (talk) 09:23, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Also, just wondering... I think you (or anyone else) could block the IP 94.124.138.40. I peeked at its contribs and it's all just... vandalism. Arbok77 (talk) 15:19, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

Another vandal...[edit]

I understand it is within your power to block the IP address 50.162.198.55. I have undone all of their edits that were still current, they were all just nonsense and vandalism. Ramrod262 (talk)

Got it, thanks! ~ Lemoncream (talk) 06:03, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Ethereal socket[edit]

When i placed Inscribed Gem into my Arcana hair and removed it by hammer, i found what one socket became "Ethereal socket" and i can't put any Inscribed gem into it. So, I can put Ethereal Gem into this Ethereal Socket in my item (not courier)? 12:03, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Ethereal gems only go into couriers. I don't know why it gave you an Ethereal socket, probably a bug? ~ Lemoncream (talk) 12:06, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Items that still aren't working[edit]

On IRC, you said:

[2013-12-28 20:23:01] <Lemoncake> some stuff are still not showing up on templates ):
[2013-12-28 23:27:21] <Lemoncake> all the pages have properties now, but some have messed up queries and wont show up
[2013-12-28 23:28:24] <Lemoncake> 80-90% of items are fixt, but not all

Can you show me an example of a still-busted item? I'd like to look into this. --Kroocsiogsi (talk) 01:18, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Too late, I think I've already fixed all of em (by resaving them), but I'll let you know if I see any more. Izoku was the first one I found (now fixed), if that's any help... ~ Lemoncream (talk)
OK. Next time it happens, see if purging/refreshing works first. If that doesn't work I'd appreciate a holler, although I can't guarantee a prompt response. Thanks for your work. --Kroocsiogsi (talk) 22:49, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Vandal[edit]

Can you please block the IP 206.169.65.43. Added so much vulgar vandalism to the Heroes page. It's fixed now. Arbok77 (talk) 04:38, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Color Template[edit]

I saw that you posted to Kroocsiogsi's page that you need help with a color template since the links turn blue. I had the same problem with linking to tournament tickets from tournament pages (see joinDOTA League America Season 1), but managed to fix it. If you want the links to remain a certain color, use this code: <span style="color:white;">Text Here</span>. Hope that helps! -Hybridshiek (talk) 16:41, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll see how it can be integrated to the new templates... once Krooc makes them for me. ~ Lemoncream (talk) 16:49, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Set icon for BH[edit]

Hi! How did you make this icon set for BH's weapon pack? Photoshop or using some different tools? Maybe you will make the same with this: Gunslinger_Set. It will be good. (I'm not good at drawing :D) --eЯmac.hdp (talk) 13:01, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

No lol, I just found them in the game files. Valve must have updated them after they came out. - Lemoncream (talk) 13:05, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
hah ok. And about new set icons: maybe we will use default icon set with white background, not a set-art? --eЯmac.hdp (talk) 13:10, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
There's no choice, most of them don't have the old white background icons. If you look in the game files lots of the new sets are using the loading screen art as icons, so maybe Valve wants it that way from now on... - Lemoncream (talk) 13:14, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Equipment page[edit]

Hi! Can you add Magnus template to this page? Hero_equipment_K_through_Q. Because I can't, after saving page goes blank or displaying that site is down. The same in russian version. Maybe we need to create a new template, which will contains all this templates or something like that? Sorry for bad English --eЯmac.hdp (talk) 13:20, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

I'm getting the same problem... it's the too many templates problem again. It's not that important right now, I don't think a lot of people use that page. - Lemoncream (talk) 13:23, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

GemsNav[edit]

You can check my edit; that wasn't what caused it to display individual gems. I think it was probably just that a lot of individual gems in Category:Gems were added recently. --Kroocsiogsi (talk) 18:14, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Well as long as it displays the gem types it's all good. - Lemoncream (talk) 18:51, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Changes to Single-hero cosmetic item nav[edit]

I question this change to {{Single-hero cosmetic item nav}}. Would you explain your motivation? I agree with ERmachdp that it seems like a bad idea:

  • It requires additional maintenance
  • It is vulnerable to mistyped and/or new slots
  • It requires additional translation
  • It creates many rows that have only a single item, partially defeating the purpose of having rows in the first place
  • The distinction between some slots is of questionable utility (e.g. Shapeshift versus Ultimate versus Ability 4)
  • It requires more queries, putting a slightly higher load on servers

Perhaps these costs are worth it if there are offsetting benefits, but what benefits did you have in mind? Are those benefits served by a compromise, for instance creating special rows only for weapons (and off-hands), taunts, and/or summons? --Kroocsiogsi (talk) 09:03, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Well previously, any item that wasn't part of a set was jumbled together on one row. I thought it was disorganized and ugly, so I created a row for each slot in the game. Don't let the documentation fool you, Nature's Prophet is probably the only hero with so many rows, Kunkka might be another. Most other heroes only have a few, and are unlikely to increase as Valve has moved to publishing more sets instead of individual slot items. Individual items that fit into uncommon slots like Arms were mostly made when the cosmetic items system came out, it rarely happens anymore. I've gone over all the heroes and included every slot possible, adding new ones when they appear. Misspellings can be fixed. Similar slots like Ultimate and Ability 4 are Valve's designations, I just replicate how they appear in-game.
I personally think the new template looks much better and wouldn't change it on aesthetic grounds. IMO, having one item on one row is a still clearer, better representation of information than everything jammed together. Most cosmetic item pages are short and can afford the space. However, if it does put a heavy strain on the servers, then maybe we can think of something else. Most individual slot items fall under Head, Weapon, Off-Hand, Ability #s, Ultimate, Taunts and maybe a few others. I suppose we could put any exceptions on a catch-all "Others" row, although there are quite a few such exceptions (spread out across heroes, admittedly), and this would not be my preferred solution. - Lemoncream (talk) 16:21, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
I have to agree that it looks far better than the jumble of items. I doubt the mistyping or maintenance will be difficult, as heroes rarely get new items for new locations. Translation is the only real issue, but each category is only one word. Google Translate is pretty good at doing individual words. I don't know the exact numbers behind site load, but if its not significant, I'd say Pictogram tick.png  keep it. --PimpadelicX (talk) 18:57, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

Bloodseeker's Rupture[edit]

Hey Lemoncream. I asked this on Kroocsiogsi's talk page earlier, but I see no harm in asking for another opinion. I've been testing around with Bloodseeker's Rupture lately and have found it not to be HP Removal, despite what the wiki says. Now I know the 6.78 update says it changed to HP Removal, but even the in-game tooltip says Pure Damage, it just goes through magic immunity. Here is my reasoning behind this; absolute damage reduction and damage amplification spells work against Rupture, but do not work against other HP Removal spells. It cannot be HP Removal if there are any changes to the numbers, it should be a raw subtraction. So, should I follow the balance changelog and leave it as is, or change it to Pure Damage that penetrates magic immunity like the in-game tooltip says? --PimpadelicX (talk) 00:57, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

For some reason the patch notes are often sloppily written, so that's probably why. If you're sure, then just go ahead and change it to pure damage. - Lemoncream (talk) 03:12, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Dictionary template question[edit]

I noticed you edited Template:Dictionary/cosmetic items/music (and other subpages) after I edited Template:Dictionary/cosmetic items, and my edit didn't seem to take effect in the cosmetic item infoboxes until you made yours. The Dictionary template says Pictogram comment.png Note: Please do not create or edit individual dictionary subpages, e.g. Template:Dictionary/items/cheese. Make changes to the main dictionary pages linked above instead. Is that info wrong? Was I supposed to create those? Or did you just do that because you didn't want to wait for a bot that comes around once in a while? - LingoSalad (talk) 16:10, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

I don't think the bot that makes them is active anymore, that's why I'm making them manually. - Lemoncream (talk) 20:30, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Golden Doomling[edit]

Golden Doomling drops from Gold Trove Cask. I'm edited pages.

No need. I changed it back now that I can see the treasure being listed on the market. - Lemoncream (talk) 16:53, 18 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, maybe rename this page Cosmetic Item to Cosmetic Items
P.S. do not add this on end item page [[Category:Equipment]] (it becomes automatically)

I fully agreed with him about category Medok 18:52, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
I'm not adding the category, they were there before. I went with the Treasure page (instead of Treasures), although some of the other pages do have plurals. We could start a vote/discussion on it, but it's not terribly important IMO. - Lemoncream (talk) 03:24, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
As i see, every created english cosmetic item page have written equipment category, that's why i don't agreed with adding it in pages, when it's writes automatically. Maybe need ask RJ to delete this category by bot everywhere it's writing auto? Medok 05:20, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
Well I don't know if it should be removed. Last year there was a database problem and RJ used the category for his bot to fix all the problems, so maybe it's useful. Maybe we can ask Kroo next time he's around - Lemoncream (talk) 06:15, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Split article[edit]

Can i split this article into "Last-hitting" and "Denying", with all redirects and stuff? It is just for order, i will keep everything from the old article and maybe format it in a better way, and improve it. --CodeXvetustissimus (talk) 12:19, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Sure, go ahead. - Lemoncream (talk) 18:23, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Equipment cleanup script[edit]

Before I go and change everything, I want to make sure this is all correct. Right now, I have a rule set for AutoWikiBrowser that:

  • Creates the "==Set items==" section with the set items if the section doesn't exist and the item is in a set, above any existing ==sections== in the article, or right above the cosmetic item nav if there are no other ==sections==.
  • Removes "| paintable = xxx" and "| giftable = xxx" from the infobox -- deletes the whole line
  • If it's a Treasure, make "| slot = Chest" into "| slot = " -- noticed some of the new treasures were like this, assumed this was intentional ("|slot = Chest" is confusing and also not true)
  • Adds [[:Category:Equipment]] if it's not there already. -- wasn't sure about this one. If so, should it be added on every type of page in [[:Category:Equipment]] (battle bonuses, tools, equipment, etc)?

It doesn't change anything with the Treasure formatting in "| availability = ", It's tough to write a case for that one since there's so many different ways it's formatted now. It shouldn't be too hard for someone to copy / paste those since those lines should be the same for each treasure. I could write a very simple rule for each treasure and apply it to the items inside of it.

Questions:

  • {{Single-hero cosmetic item nav|Storm Spirit}} -- This is present on a few pages. Remove the "|Storm Spirit"? (Storm Spirit is just an example)
  • ==See Also== * [[Equipment]] -- it's on many of the equipment pages. Add to all of them or remove?
  • Just thought of this, automatically convert Mythical into Mythical and Inscribed to Inscribed (etc) if it's in the main body text of the article (not the infobox)?
  • Anything I should add?

P.S. I'll be away for a few days and will hopefully start soon after I return. - LingoSalad (talk) 01:12, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

  • IMO, the ==Set items== should be at the bottom/last section of individual item pages.
  • For Treasures, just replace it with a simple link to the treasure - If it's too hard to do for items that come from multiple treasures then just leave it, there aren't that many and I can just do it manually
  • Do add the Equipment category
  • Do remove the hero parameter from the {{Single-hero cosmetic item nav}}
  • Do remove ==See Also== * [[Equipment]] from all pages
    • Also remove ==See Also== * [[Pro Gear]] from all pages
  • Do convert rarity and qualities into the new colored templates
Do these if possible:
If not, it's okay because I still plan to go through all the items anyway
  • Move {{Demonstration| }} templates to the bottom of the page, past all sections but right above {{Single-hero cosmetic item nav}}
  • Remove any instances of | setname = and | setitem# = where there are no sets or set items defined
  • Remove any instances of | strangecounter = , also note that sometimes it doesn't have an = sign, just | strangecounter
  • Remove all instances of {{stub}}
  • Remove all instances of "Drop" and "Droppable" in the infobox for now
  • Link all instances of "Perfect World", both in the infobox and in the article text
Thanks Lingo ^O^

response to IRC message[edit]

<Lemoncake> lingo i hope your script isn't adding set info to items from league bundles o.o
<Lemoncake> cus the hero item template will interpret it as a set and try to put it in the set category, but it wont appear cus league bundles aren't assigned to a hero

No, it doesn't add any information in the infobox, that was just a mistake in a manual edit on my end. I saw that section on some couriers and HUD skins, and I didn't realize hero-specific items weren't supposed to have it. Thanks for catching that! (and also the revert on Ethereal Gem :) ) - LingoSalad (talk) 13:12, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

FYI, that checkbox doesn’t always work. Sometimes it works. Apparently there’s a MediaWiki bug. But you should always try it, and then go back and check to make sure it worked. — Kroocsiogsi (talk) 18:58, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
