The Urn of Shadows is an item purchasable at the Main Shop, under Support.

Heals 400 health over 8 seconds when cast on allies, and deals 150 pure damage over 8 seconds when cast on enemies.

The healing effect is lost if the affected ally takes damage from an enemy hero or tower.

Gains charges every time an enemy hero dies within 1400 units. Only the closest Urn to the dying hero will gain a charge.

Partially pierces spell immunity. Can be cast on spell immune allies.
Cannot be cast on spell immune enemies. Attempts to damage if debuff was placed before spell immunity and when not dispelled.
Buff Item Urn Heal: Dispellable with any dispel.
Debuff Item Urn Damage: Dispellable with any dispel.


  • Double clicking the item uses it on self.
  • Successive casts on the same target do not stack, but refresh the duration instead.
  • Restores health in the form of health regeneration, so it heals for 5 health in 0.1 second intervals, which is 50 health per second.
  • Deals 18.75 damage in 1 second intervals, resulting in 8 damage instances.
  • Damage greater than 0 from any player (including allies and self) or Roshan icon.png Roshan dispels the healing effect.
    • Does not get dispelled by damage flagged as HP Removal.
  • When having no charges left, the urn gains 2 charges from the next enemy hero's death, instead of 1.

  • Urn of Shadows is a great way to finish off ganked targets, as Pudge has no mobility to catch up to them.

  • Charge of Darkness icon.png Charge of Darkness and Nether Strike icon.png Nether Strike allows Spirit Breaker to get close enough to use Urn of Shadows on any ganking target, and can finish them off even if they survive the initial attack.

  • Urn of Shadows can finish off an enemy if Nyx Assassin's burst damage isn't enough.
  • The extra mana regeneration is also gives Nyx Assassin a greater presence on the map.

  • Earth Spirit's mobility allows him to catch up and use Urn of Shadows on almost any enemy.
  • Combined with Magnetize icon.png Magnetize, the health degeneration is enough take down fleeing opponents.

  • As Riki is very active in kill participation, he can constantly gain Urn of Shadows charges.
  • Urn of Shadows gives Riki the much needed health and mana regeneration he lacks.

  • Due to False Promise icon.png False Promise negating all damage, Urn of Shadow's heal results in 800 guaranteed healing, greatly improving an ally's chances of surviving False Promise icon.png False Promise.



  • Urn of Shadows is a great item to have when going for a heavy ganking lineup, as it helps heal any damage taken while finishing off any low health enemies.
