Status Resistance is an attribute of a hero that reduces the duration of most status debuffs and the slow values of slows. By default, no unit has base status resistance. Strength heroes gain 0.15% Status Resistance linearly for each point of strength they have.

Mechanics[edit]

Status resistance affects all kind of debuffs, but generally only affects modifiers placed by enemies, and not ones placed by allies. Status resistance, no matter how high, cannot negate a status effect's effect entirely. This means even with 100% status resistance, stuns still interrupt the hero so that channeling spells get canceled, even though the hero was virtually not stunned at all. The minimum duration a modifier can have is one server tick, which is 0.033 (1/30) seconds.

Status resistance does not affect all modifiers, there are some exceptions, mainly for technical reasons. Modifiers with a permanent effect, like auras, are not affected by status resistance, not even their linger duration after getting out of range. If a debuff slows and deals damage over time, it has its slow value reduced, instead of its duration, so that the total damage dealt by it is not affected.

Stacking[edit]

All sources of status resistance reductions stack diminishingly. This means a unit's status resistance value changes less, the higher its status resistance is, and more, the lower it is.

The status resistance strength heroes gain through strength is all summed up into, and treated as one instance, which stacks diminishingly with other sourcers. This means with a theoretical strength of 667, a strength hero would have 100% status resistance.

Formula
For total status resistance of a unit (multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage value):

Total status resistance = 1 − ((1 - Strength × 0.15% on strength heroes) × (1 − first resistance bonus) × (1 − second resistance bonus))

For status debuff durations after status resistance:

Actual duration = Duration × (1 − strength × 0.15% on strength heroes) × (1 − first resistance bonus) × (1 - second resistance bonus)

Example:

Centaur Warrunner Centaur Warrunner on level 19 with an Aeon Disk icon.png Aeon Disk has a status resistance of:
1 - (1 - (100.4 × 0.15)) × (1 - 0.25) = 1 - (1 - 0.1506) × (1 - 0.25) = 36.295%
Tiny Tiny on level 25 with Grow icon.png Grow on level 3 and with an Aeon Disk icon.png Aeon Disk has a status resistance of:
1 - (1 - (109.2 × 0.15)) × (1 - 0.4) × (1 - 0.25) = 1 - (1 - 0.1638) × (1 - 0.4) × (1 - 0.25) = 62.371%

Abilities not affected by status resistance[edit]

1 The knockback/disable duration is reduced, but the damage over time debuff is unaffected.

Slow values reduced by status resistance[edit]

Other status resistance interactions[edit]

  • Cold Feet icon.png
Does not affect the initial debuff's duration. Does reduce the stun duration.
  • Ice Blast icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Enfeeble icon.png
When the damage steal talent is chosen, the buff duration on Bane considers status resistance on the target.
  • Fiend's Grip icon.png
Reduces duration and damage/mana drain tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage/mana drain remain the same.
  • Flaming Lasso icon.png
Self-disarm duration considers status resistance on the target. When upgraded, secondary target copies the primary target's lasso duration. However, after copying it, it gets reduced further by the primary target's status resistance. If the secondary target as status resistance, it gets reduced further by their own resistance, instead of that of the primary target. Reduces damage tick interval. The damage debuff is reduced twice (4 times on secondary target).
  • Primal Roar icon.png
Stun and slow durations are reduced normally. Knockback duration is also reduced, but the speed is increased, so that the shove distance is kept the same.
  • Quill Spray icon.png
When placing more than one stack, the status debuff does not show the reduced duration. The actual stacks are reduced, though.
  • Frostbite icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Bramble Maze icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Cursed Crown icon.png
Does not affect the initial debuff's duration. Does reduce the stun duration.
  • Doom ability icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same. When upgraded, does not affect the upgraded duration when Doom gets out of range. However, it still reduces the tick interval.
  • Elder Dragon Form icon.png
Reduces the frost slow duration, but does not affect the poison debuff.
  • Geomagnetic Grip icon.png
Reduces the silence duration. When cast on an enemy under the effect of Enchant Remnant icon.png Enchant Remnant, does not affect the pull duration.
  • Searing Chains icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Malefice icon.png
Does not affect the debuff's duration. Does reduce the stun duration.
  • Cold Snap icon.png
Does not affect the debuff's duration. Does reduce the stun duration.
  • Dual Breath icon.png
Reduces the slow value, but not the duration of the slow debuff. Does not affect the damage debuff.
  • Torrent icon.png
Reduces the slow duration. Does not affect the knockup/stun duration.
  • Open Wounds icon.png
Reduces the duration. The slow still gets weaker based on the default duration, and not the reduced duration.
  • Skewer icon.png
Reduces the slow duration. Does not affect dragging duration.
  • Stone Gaze icon.png
Reduces the petrify duration. Does not affect the slow duration. Does not affect the facing timer.
  • Heartpiercer icon.png
Does not affect the initial debuff's duration. Does reduce the slowing/armor negating debuff's duration.
  • Rolling Thunder icon.png
Does not affect the knockback debuff's duration. Does reduce the following stun duration. Also affects the timeout modifier, so that the hero may get hit again quicker.
  • Dream Coil icon.png
Reduces the debuff duration in the HUD, but does not affect the leash's actual duration. Does affect how long the Rapid Fire talent can attack the hero though. Fully affects the stun durations.
  • Dismember icon.png
Reduces duration and damage/heal tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage/heal remain the same. Reduces the pull duration twice.
  • Caustic Finale icon.png
Initial debuff is not reduced when placed by attacks, but is reduced when placed by Burrowstrike icon.png Burrowstrike. The slow duration is always reduced.
  • Demonic Purge icon.png
Reduces the duration. The slow's decay rate also speeds up accordingly.
  • Shadowraze (Medium) icon.png
Reduces duration of the first stack. However, once refreshed with a new stack, the entire stack is no longer affected by status resistance.
  • Shackles icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Last Word icon.png
Does not affect the initial debuff's duration.
  • Spectral Dagger icon.png
Reduces trail debuff duration. Does not reduce slow duration upon leaving the trait. Does not reduce slow value.
  • Entangling Claws (Spirit Bear) icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Reflection icon.png
Reduces slow duration. Does not reduce the duration of the illusions.
  • Psionic Trap icon.png
When activated via the sub spell on Templar Assassin, lasts its full duration, gets the slow value reduced, and the damage tick interval reduced. When activated via the sub-spell on the trap itself, gets the duration reduced, tick interval reduced and damage per tick increased. In both cases, the total damage gets higher the more resistance the target has.
  • Chakram icon.png
Reduces slow duration when passing by. Does not affect the debuff of a stationary Chakram.
  • Overgrowth icon.png
Reduces duration and damage tick interval, so that the amount of instances and total damage remain the same.
  • Walrus Punch icon.png
Reduces slow duration. Does not affect the knockup/stun duration.
  • Walrus Kick icon.png
Reduces slow duration. Does not affect the knockback/stun duration.
  • Grave Chill icon.png
