Gustav "s4" Magnusson is a Swedish professional Dota 2 player currently playing for Evil Geniuses.
Professional Career
Team Empire
After having success in HoN, s4 transitioned to Dota 2 with Team Empire in January 2012. However, he left the team two months later.
The Tough Bananas
After parting ways with Empire, s4 created The Tough Bananas with Balsam, CalculuS, THEneNo- and henrydickenson in March 2012. The team had minor success, winning a few small tournaments like JoinDOTA Masters VIII.
Copenhagen Wolves
Copenhagen Wolves picked up The Tough Bananas in July 2012. After two months with disappointing results, s4 left the team.
No Tidehunter
s4 created No Tidehunter with AdmiralBulldog, EternaLEnVy, Black^ and kizzles in September 2012. This team had immediate success, winning The Revenge 1 and placing second in the AVerMedia Dota 2 Cup. In their first major tournament, Dreamhack Winter 2012 Corsair Vengeance Cup, No Tidehunter came in first place, beating Evil Geniuses and performing the famous level one Roshan bait.[1] After replacing EternaLEnvy with EGM, creating an all Swedish roster, s4 became the team captain, and led the team to win 3 of the 4 RaidCall EMS One Spring 2013 tournaments, and even place first in SLTV StarSeries Season Five.
Alliance
After their enormous success in early 2013, No Tidehunter was picked up by Alliance in April.[2] This team would go on to be one of the best teams in 2013, rivaled only by Natus Vincere. Aside from their 5-8 placement in the RaidCall EMS One Spring 2013 finals, they placed first in every tournament they entered until The International 2013, with which they would become champions of after an impressive final series with Na'Vi.
2014 was a much harder year for s4 and Alliance, still performing well for the first half, winning Dota 2 Champions League, DreamHack Bucharest 2014 Invitational and ASUS ROG DreamLeague Season 1. However, during The International 2014, with Bulldog's signature Nature's Prophet was banned out in every game but one, and the team finished with a disappointing 11-12th place. After this, s4 left Alliance in September.[3]
Team Secret
s4 created Team Secret along with former Na'Vi players Puppey and KuroKy and former Fnatic players BigDaddy and Fly. Despite their impressive winrate, they did not achieve any major LAN wins in 2014. They did, however, win Dota Pit League Season 2 and The XMG Captain's Draft 2.0. After replacing BigDaddy and Fly with Arteezy and zai, Team Secret placed third at Dota 2 Asia Championship 2015 and went on to place first in four LAN events in a row.
