Some extensive modifications could be detected as a cheat by the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) System. This could result in a VAC ban.

There have been no reports of bans issued for non-binary modifications such as game resources mentioned above - since 2014.

In fact, even popular binary modifications mostly used in the CIS region are not banned - since 2014.

There are however reports of users being placed in hidden / shadow pools matchmaking for using panorama js mods.
