Gem TD is a tower defense map that originated from Warcraft 3. It features a unique maze, a challenging difficulty curve and a high degree of replayability.
Build your gems and stones to protect the castle. 50+ waves of enemies will attack your castle.

Gameplay[edit]

Players must defend their Gem Castle by constructing a long winding maze that creeps will follow and allow for their towers to do maximum damage before they reach the Gem Castle. Waves get increasingly difficult as the game progresses and each wave will have different skills that add to the challenge (magic immune, ability to disarm, flying, physical immune, etc). In response, players can combine gems and towers to increase their damage. The game consists of a build phase and an attack phase.

Build Phase[edit]

Players must place 5 gems during the build phase and then pick only one gem that will remain while the rest will be turned into stone. The player must have a balance between building the maze itself and having gems in the right place in order to maximize their effectiveness. Each gem you place will be random unless you have skills that increase the chances for certain types of gems. To finish the build phase, players must select one of the options below:

  • SELECT (Check) Keep the selected gem only
  • REMOVE (Stone) Remove the stone
  • MERGE (^) Replace the selected gem with the same type one level higher
  • MERGE (^^) Replace the selected gem with the same type two levels higher
  • COMBINE (Tower)
    • If you get the right combination of gems and towers you can combine them to create a stronger tower with special effects depending on which gem/tower combination you got
    • If you happen to get all 3 gems required build a tower during a single building phase you can instantly build the tower
  • DOWNGRADE (Gem) Downgrades the gem to a random lower quality for 200 gold

Attack Phase[edit]

The attack phase involves creeps passing through five checkpoints in order around the map before reaching the Gem Castle. They take shortest path available between the checkpoints. Towers or gems that do the most damage in a single round are awarded a MVP bonus which boosts their damage and decreases magic resistance (10% and -10% respectively) of nearby enemies. When a gem or tower receives the max amount of MVP's (10 MVP awards) they receive a special aura with a range of 600 (radius of 2 tiles) that increases damage of nearby towers and gems by 75%. Players can direct the towers manually or tell them to stop in order to focus on certain enemies or to manage which towers get MVP bonuses.

Skills[edit]

Skills can be bought in GemTD using shells and they are then attached to the character you are currently using. Each skill has 4 levels which is upgraded by purchasing the skill again in the store. Shells are obtained at the end of the month depending on your global rank or you can purchase additional shells using the link provided in-game.

Strategies[edit]

  • Manage MVP bonuses properly to maximize damage in the late game.
  • Have a balance between physical and magical damage
  • Stack different levels of Opal auras for the attack speed and Sapphires for the slow. Having the same aura level such as two Opal E2 auras means that they do not stack and the two auras will only count as one.
