Balanar creates a vortex of infinite night, tearing opponents violently into the eternal darkness that once was.

  • Also uses the night values during the night from Eclipse.

During the night, also mutes the enemy's items, and the effect lasts longer.

A vision of the twisted maw of Balanar etches itself into the minds of the poor souls unlucky enough to cross his path.

Notes:

  • The miss chance and silence duration do not update when it turns day or night while the debuff is on. The values are set upon cast.
  • Also uses the night values during the night from Eclipse.

Partially usable by illusions. Disabled by Break. Pierces spell immunity.

Hunter in the Night's bonuses increase every time Darkness is cast.

Partially usable by illusions. Illusions receive the increased movement speed, but not the increased attack speed.

Night Stalker smothers the sun and summons instant darkness. While Darkness is active, Night Stalker has increased night vision range, and no movement or attack speed limit. All enemy units also have their vision range reduced to 675.
Darksight: When Darkness is cast, enemy heroes are briefly revealed.

Enemy Maximum Vision Range: 675 (Upgradable by Aghanim's Scepter. 600)

Aghanim's upgrade: Grants unobstructed vision in the night. And decreases enemy unit vision range to 600.
Not disabled by Break. Unobstructed night vision is not disabled by Break.
Modifiers
Buff Darkness: Undispellable.
Debuff Darkness Blind: Undispellable.
It is a humbling sight to see when the mightiest of warriors become afraid of the dark.

Notes:

  • Moves the clock 50 seconds before dawn during Darkness (so it is known when Darkness will end).
    • When Darkness ends, game clock is set to time before Darkness cast time + time passed during Darkness.
    • This means the game clock is not frozen during Darkness, day-/nighttime passes normally.
  • If used during the day, exactly when it turns daylight and exactly when it is off cooldown each time after, it can be used 2/2/3 times, effectively reducing the length of daylight each day to 140/140/90 seconds compared to 240 seconds of normal daylight.
  • In order for it to be used 2/2/3 times without losing nighttime, it must be used within 30/70/30 seconds into the day.
  • The vision limitation for enemies only occurs during Darkness nights. Regular nights and the night from Eclipse does not limit vision when Night Stalker is in the game.
  • The vision limitation affects every non-neutral enemy unit, including buildings and wards.
  • However, it does not reduce the vision of spells and the vision granted from Moon Shard icon.png Moon Shard.
  • The vision limitation is provided by a global aura and thus the debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds after Darkness' night ends.
  • The unobstructed vision from the Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter upgrade is not bound to any of Night Stalker's spells, so it is active at every night, regardless of Darkness being leveled or not.

  • Void:
    • Duration from 4 to 2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds.
    • Vision loss from 175/250/325/400 to 400.

6.85b

  • Darkness now moves the game clock to 50 seconds before dawn instead of freezing it, so that both teams know when Darkness is going to end.

6.84.8b

  • Darkness now shows how many stacks of bonuses you have due to using Darkness.

6.84.7

  • Hunter in the Night:
    • Base move speed bonus from 24/28/32/36% to 20/25/30/35%.
    • Bbase attack speed bonus from 50/70/90/110 to 45/60/75/90.
    • Stacking attack speed from 15 to 20.
    • No longer gains stacking bonus night vision when casting Darkness.

  • Darkness while active, Night Stalker has no move or attack speed limit.

  • Hunter in the Night now grants +50 night vision every time Darkness is cast.
  • Darkness while active, grants an extra 200/400/600 bonus night vision for its duration.
