Magnets, how do they f****** work?


  • This is an innate ability and does not need to be skilled. It is not bound to any ability, but to Magnus himself.
  • Magnetize's movement-impairing effects grow stronger as magnetized units get closer to each other.

Magnus sends out a wave of force, damaging enemy units in a line.
Resonate: up to 3 magnetized enemies hit by shockwave will spawn secondary shockwaves.

Aghanim's upgrade: Doubles the extra shockwaves when hitting magnetized targets.
Mt. Joerlak was a somewhat unstable mass, and Magnus has learnt to channel its reverbations.


  • Units take primary damage on their first shockwave hit, then secondary damage on all other instances based on the same cast of the ability.
  • The Shockwave travels at a speed of 1600.
  • Can hit units up to 1975 range away (1800 travel distance + 175 radius).
  • Plays an initial sound and particles upon start casting.

Overpowered: Empower is always active on Magnus, works on ranged allies, and is not dispelled by Spell Immunity.
Supercharge: When using Empower on an already empowered ally, they will gain bonus movement and attack speed.

With a deep bellow, Magnus displays his true power.


  • Unlike other cleaves, Empower's cleave damage is centered on the enemy target.
  • Only increases base damage and that given by the primary attribute of the units. Raw bonus damage is not increased.
  • The unit's current main damage is periodically checked, and the bonuses adapted instantly.
  • Cleave damage is reduced by armor type but not by armor value. Splash damage is reduced by both.
  • Cleave and splash damage depends on the attack damage value of the cleaving/splashing unit, not on how much their primary attack target took.
  • Fully stacks with other sources of cleave. Each source of cleave works completely independent. Same applies to splash.
  • Does not cleave or splash upon attacking wards, buildings or allied units. Wards and buildings are unaffected by cleave and splash.
  • Despite the visual effect, cleave and splash damage is applied instantly in the whole area.
  • Treats creep-heroes as heroes, so the aura fully affects them.
  • Can still be cast on units, but does not stack with the aura's buff.

Magnus rushes forward, goring enemy units on his massive tusk. Heroes hit on the way will be dragged to the destination, then damaged and slowed.

  • Skewer isn't IMBAfied, meaning that it acts exactly like its Dota 2 counter part.
  • Magnus charges at a speed of 1200.
  • During the Skewer, Magnus is fully disabled.
  • Enemy heroes within 1605 radius around Magnus get moved in front of him and dragged along.
  • Dragged heroes are fully disabled during the drag.
  • Dragged heroes land 200 range away in front of Magnus at the end of the charge.
  • Can charge through and drag enemies over impassable terrain.
  • Destroys trees within 200 radius during the charge, and 400 radius at the destination point.

Magnus changes properties of matter, slowing and pulling all enemies towards him. Enemies which are near enough will also be damaged and stunned.
Polarity: magnetized enemies are pulled from much further away.

  • Movement, slow and stun all pierce Magic Immunity.
  • Breaks trees around the targets' trajectory.
  • There is no limit of how many units can be affected.
  • Stuns Roshan icon.png Roshan but does not pull him.
  • The particle effects and a sound effect start playing at the beginning of the cast.

(Im)balance changelog[edit]


  • Shockwave:
    • No longer splits when hitting illusions.
    • Now splits a maximum of 3 times per cast.
  • Empower:
    • Supercharge duration from 20 to 16 seconds.
    • Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter's passive now has the same duration as Supercharge (16 seconds), instead of full duration.
  • Reverse Polarity main pull radius from 500/575/650 to 500/550/600.


  • Empower is now constantly applied to all allies in 1200 range if Magnus has an Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter.
  • Skewer:
    • Pull range from 1000/1200/1400/1600 to 1300/1400/1500/1600.
    • Slow duration from 2.5 to 2.5/2.75/3/3.25 seconds.
  • Reverse Polarity:
    • No longer affects creeps, and no longer roots targets with Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter.
    • Global ministun moved from the scepter upgrade to the regular ability.


  • Shockwave travel speed from 1200 to 1500.
  • Empower's Supercharge now lasts 20 seconds (from 12).
  • Reverse Polarity:
    • Now deals damage only to targets caught in the initial AoE (500/575/650).
    • Magnetized units will be pulled from 1200/1600/2000 units away (from 1000/1200/1400).
    • No longer hits creeps outside of the pull radius.


  • Reverse Polarity
    • Magnetized pull range from 1000/1500/2000 to 1000/1200/1400;
    • Movement slow from 30% to 40%, duration from 3/4/5 to 2.25/3/3.75 (same as the stun).
  • Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter:
    • Previously, added a global ministun to Reverse Polarity, and increased its damage on nearby targets.
    • Now, causes Shockwave to launch two additional waves when hitting magnetized targets, and Reverse Polarity to apply a global root instead of a slow.


  • Shockwave now deals damage before checking for Magnetize. This essentially means that the bonus shockwaves will now always trigger on heroes.
  • Empower using empower again on an ally already affected by it now grants the "Supercharge" buff, increasing attack and move speed, and causing magnetized enemies to be attracted to the supercharged unit.
  • Skewer damage from 90/160/230/300 to 100/175/250/325, cooldown from 30/25/20/15 to 24/20/16/12.
  • IMBA Magnetize.png Magnetize maximum slow from 20 to 25%.
  • Reverse Polarity basic pull radius from 475/550/625 to 500/575/650. Will now stun enemies according to their distance from Magnus.
    • Enemies which end up at the center point of the spell (right in front of Magnus) are stunned for the full duration, as normal.
    • Enemies which end up near the center point will be stunned for a shorter duration, proportional to their distance to the center point.
    • Enemies which end up farther than the base pull distance from the center point will not be stunned.
  • Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter still causes a global ministun.
