Weakens an enemy unit, reducing its physical damage. Lasts 20 seconds. Can stack up to 5 times.
The Terror Within: Affected enemies have their vision reduced for every stack of enfeeble. The vision reduction has diminishing returns, and is weaker with each additional stack.

Feasts on the vital energies of an enemy unit, draining health and mana to Bane. Addlebrain: Units affected by Brain Sap will lose a % of their maximum mana after using abilities.

Puts the target enemy or friendly Hero to sleep and deals damage per second. Units attacking the Nightmared target will also become disabled, but the attacking target will not wake. The nightmared unit instantly wakes up if it takes damage.

A stolen prowess from the goddess Nyctasha is to put his prey into forever sleep.


  • Whenever Bane is affected by Nightmare, he gains a sub-ability which allows him to wake himself up.

Nightmare End

  • Nightmare End replaces Nightmare as long as Bane has the Nightmare buff/debuff on himself.
  • Can wake up at any time during a Nightmare, even during the 1 second invulnerability.

Fiend's Grip

Grips an enemy unit, disabling it and causing heavy damage over time, while stealing mana based on the unit's maximum mana. If Fiend's Grip is interrupted, the disable will persist for the same duration as the channeling lasted (up to the listed maximum duration).

Aghanim's upgrade: Increases damage per second, mana drain, and duration. If an enemy looks at Bane up close while he is channeling Fiend's Grip, they will affected by Fiend's Grip themselves. This secondary effect does not pierce spell immunity.
Partially pierces spell immunity. Does not attempt to damage spell immune enemies. The Fiend's Grips from the Aghanim's upgrade from looking at Bane do not pierce spell immunity.
Debuff Fiends Grip: Dispellable with strong dispels.
Victims of Atropos are frequently torn apart by vivid conjurations of their own nightmares.


  • Maximum channeling time of ability (including Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter upgraded version) is always 3.5 seconds.
    • Therefore, it is beneficial to end the channeling after 2.5 seconds, until Aghanim's Scepter icon.png Aghanim's Scepter is acquired.
  • Checks for invisibility on the target once upon cast. If it is invisible (this includes fade time), it will also provide True Sight over it.
