Rizzrack the Timbersaw is a melee Strength hero that excels in dealing damage and causing destruction in large areas. His effectiveness is improved by having trees around him, as they can amplify the damage of his spells and allow him to escape easily. He is not naturally very durable, but can be surprisingly resilient when he is attacked due to Reactive Armor, and when surrounded by favorable terrain he can be extremely hard to pin down and kill. He can cause chaos in the early game because he has a low cost ultimate that can wreak havoc. In addition to this, most of his spells deal pure damage, unreduced by magic resistance or armor. With proper positioning and timing, he can cause massive damage to multiple enemies while also decreasing their movement speed and attributes. |

+ | * Arcane Boots are the boots of choice for Rizzrack, as they boost his overall mana pool and provide him with a periodic increase of mana for both him and his team. He can disassemble them to use the Energy Booster for his Bloodstone. |
− | * |
+ | * Magic Wand is bought because of the increase to Timbersaw's attributes, and because of the useful health and mana restoration it provides. |
+ | |||
Core items: |
Core items: |
||
− | * |
+ | * Bloodstone provides excellent mana regeneration for Rizzrack, allowing him to use his abilities and maintain Chakram almost indefinitely. On top of this, it provides him with a bit more health and health regeneration and the ability to deny himself, which is always good for a hero who has to go deep in in fights. |
− | * |
+ | * Shiva's Guard makes Rizzrack considerably more durable due to the large amount of armor it provides. The large amount of Intelligence intelligence it provides is also very beneficial as Rizzrack requires a lot of mana and mana regeneration to do well. The active ability also helps Rizzrack kill his foes since the slow allows Rizzrack to be more precise with all of his spells and it adds another nuke ontop of that. Shiva's can also make Rizzrack a decent initiator. |
+ | |||
Situational items: |
Situational items: |
||
− | * |
+ | * Vanguard makes Rizzrack slightly tankier. It is rather effective in the early game as it can give Rizzrack a decent advantage over heroes who rely on their Physical Damage as their main damage source. |
− | * |
+ | * Pipe of Insight provides Rizzrack with a large boost to his magic resistance, which can be very good against a team who can output a large amount of magical damage. In addition, this item provides a nice amount of health regeneration. |
− | * |
+ | * Scythe of Vyse allows Rizzrack to disable a single enemy hero, allowing both Rizzrack and his team to completely destroy the targeted hero. |
− | * |
+ | * Heart of Tarrasque makes Rizzrack very tanky, as it provides a whopping 1060 additional health. The passive Health Regeneration|health regeneration is also very beneficial for Rizzrack as it means he can use Timber Chain to escape his enemies, and then he can gradually regenerate his health back up to full after this. |
− | * |
+ | * Blade Mail allows Rizzrack to use the damage of his enemies against them. It also provides him with a small amount of Intelligence intelligence, armor and 22 attack damage. |
− | * |
+ | * Aghanim's Scepter gives Timbersaw a second Chakram, allowing him to scale much better into the late game with even higher damage output. However, the mana cost of a second Chakram will deplete his pool very quickly; therefore a mana item like Bloodstone or Scythe of Vyse is mandatory before picking up this item. |

+ | * One of Timbersaw's weaknesses is his lack of disabling spells; he suffers against heroes who excel at channeling spells to harm their opponents. In this case, equip him with an item that has a quick disable, like Eul's Scepter of Divinity. |

To further slow the hero down, cast Whirling Death while the hero is in the middle of the Chakram. |

+ | * Aside for tanking damage in team fights, Reactive Armor can also be used as a quick health regeneration boost. You can either visit the small creep camps since they do little damage and come in groups, or tank lane creeps when no enemy hero is present. As long as there are multiple targets attacking you in quick succession, the spell will stack faster, and you will be able to heal faster. Make sure you're receiving damage that is lesser than what you are able to regenerate. |
− | * Aside from escape, Timbersaw's skill set also makes for good chasing. Cut down trees that get in your way to widen your path and even prevent juking. |

+ | * The trees summoned by Nature's Prophet through Sprout are still standard trees. As an enemy, you can easily cut them down to escape, or free allies who are trapped within it. As an ally, this can be used to your advantage when escaping (as Nature's Prophet can summon trees in a convenient location for you to use Timber Chain) or when fighting (Nature's Prophet can summon trees closer to you when no other tree is present, so that you can deal pure damage when casting Whirling Death). |
− | * |
+ | * Blink Dagger can give Rizzrack incredible engagement ability or even more escape potential. With this setup, he can blink on top of an enemy out of position, use Whirling Death, drop his Chakram, and Timber Chain to safety. It also allows him to easily position himself to hit multiple enemies with his Whirling Death and Chakram. This item is only really recommended if your team lacks a better initiator, or you are very far ahead. |
− | * |
+ | * Orchid Malevolence can be a good pickup if you are having issues with an enemy disabling, silencing, or blinking away from you. On top of the silence the item brings, it gives Timbersaw even more mana regen and bigger mana pool, as well as extra damage output with the burst at the end of the silence. In combination with a Blink Dagger, Timbersaw becomes incredibly fearsome and can punish anyone out of position with ease. |

+ | * Chakram works very well against heroes with long channeling abilities, such as Shadow Shaman or Warlock. By casting Chakram while they are channeling, they either have to move and cancel their ´channeling, or stay and take damage. |
− | * |
+ | * Rod of Atos synergizes very well with Timbersaw, since the increased Intelligence intelligence will allow him to cast more spells and the health will increase his survivability. The slow from Atos will assist in landing Timbersaw's spells, and the combined with Chakram's slow, it almost always reduces an enemy's movement speed to minimum. |
− | * |
+ | * Cloak can be an underrated early game item on Timbersaw, since his biggest weakness before he gets big items are disables and magical damage. With a casual Cloak and Reactive Armor, Timbersaw is very difficult to kill in the early and mid game. |

- Stats reduction is applied before damage.
- Stats reduction debuff stacks with itself.
- Also reduces stats on hit illusions.
- The chain travels at a speed of 1600/2000/2400/2800 and always travels either the full distance, or until connecting with a tree.
- Can connect to trees up to 850/1050/1250/1450 range away (800/1000/1200/1400 max travel distance + 50 tree search radius)
- The hooked tree is destroyed once the chain stops pulling.
- Can be used to pull Timbersaw across impassable terrain.
- Timbersaw will stop being pulled if he is disabled at any point during Timber Chain.
- If Timbersaw is disabled before the chain starts pulling, the chain will pull him for a very short distance, enough to still cause damage around him to nearby units.
- Timbersaw can cast spells and items during the pull, but cannot attack.
- The chain briefly provides 100 radius ground vision around itself while traveling, and 400 radius Ground vision once reaching max distance or connecting with a tree.
- When Timbersaw get's cycloned before the hook starts pulling him, the cyclone gets canceled once the hook starts pulling. However, if he gets cycloned during the pull, the hook gets canceled instead.

Self
- Triggers on attacks from any unit, including allies trying to deny you.
- Attacks from Exorcism, Moment of Courage, Sleight of Fist and The Swarm do not give a stack.
- The armor and health regen buff is applied at the beginning of the attack.
- Each stack duration has its own duration and is independant from other stacks.
- Amount of stacks are shown on the status buff icon.
- Restores health in form of health regeneration, so it regenerates 0.1 health in 0.1 second intervals per stack.
- The amount of stacks are also visually indicated by a dome which closes over on Timbersaw. Every 4 stacks cause 1 fragment of the dome to appear.
- 1-4 stacks 1 fragment, 5-8 stacks 2 fragments, 9-13 stacks 3 fragments and at 14-16 stacks the dome is fully closed.
- The Chakram travels at a speed of 900.
- The Chakram automatically returns to Timbersaw if it gets more than 2000 range away.
- The slow is provided by an aura. Its debuff lingers for 0.5 seconds.
- The first 5% movement speed slow are applied at 100%-96% hp.
- Starts draining mana once the Chakram stops moving and stops draining as soon as it starts flying back.
- Drains 10/12.5/15 mana in 0.5 second intervals, starting 0.5 seconds after it reaches the target area.
- Deals 25/37.5/50 damage (before reductions) in 0.5 second intervals, starting 0.5 seconds after it reaches the target area.
- Disarms Timbersaw as soon as the Chakram is launched. He regains his ability to attack once the Chakram returns.
- Pass damage may only damage the same unit once when flying towards the targeted point, and once again when returning to Timbersaw.
- This ability replaces Chakram until the orange chakram fully returned to Timbersaw.
- Has an instant cast time and does not interrupt Timbersaw's channeling upon cast.
- Requires Aghanim's Scepter to be unlocked.
- If Aghanim's Scepter is acquired before Chakram was learned, this Chakram will be at level 1.
- Level of this Chakram scales with the level of main Chakram.
- This Chakram is fully equivalent to the main Chakram, including disarming Timbersaw. Two Chakrams acts independently.

Tips
- Arcane Boots can be disassembled into Boots of Speed and an Energy Booster. This booster can then be used to build a Bloodstone.
- You may want to build the Boots of Speed into Boots of Travel once you've done this.
- It's not always the best idea to disassemble the Arcane Boots. If any of the heroes on your team have mana problems, but have to build other items to be successful, it can sometimes be a good idea to keep the Arcane Boots just to support your allies.
- Having the Bloodstone early is almost always more critical than having the Arcane Boots. If your team has mana problems, you can always buy another Energy Booster to build new Arcane Boots.
- If you are ready to gank in a side lane and are behind trees, use your Chakram to destroy the trees in front of you, then use your Timber Chain on the other side of the lane; after this, a well placed Whirling Death can almost ensure a kill in many situations.
- One of Timbersaw's weaknesses is his lack of disabling spells; he suffers against heroes who excel at channeling spells to harm their opponents. In this case, equip him with an item that has a quick disable, like Eul's Scepter of Divinity.
- When a hero is escaping through only one potential exit, use Chakram to block that path; if successful, the enemy hero will either be forced to run through the blade, losing health immensely and get slowed, or the enemy has to take another route. To further slow the hero down, cast Whirling Death while the hero is in the middle of the Chakram.
- The Chakram travels somewhat slow, so make sure to predict your target's path and cast it ahead of time.
- Chakram synergizes well with multi-target abilities that disable free movement, such as Black Hole, Overgrowth, or even Kinetic Field.
- Aside for tanking damage in team fights, Reactive Armor can also be used as a quick health regeneration boost.
- Aside from escape, Timbersaw's skill set also makes for good chasing. Cut down trees that get in your way to widen your path and even prevent juking.
- The trees summoned by Nature's Prophet through Sprout are still standard trees.
- Blink Dagger can give Rizzrack incredible engagement ability or even more escape potential.
- Orchid Malevolence can be a good pickup if you are having issues with an enemy disabling, silencing, or blinking away from you. On top of the silence the item brings, it gives Timbersaw even more mana regen and bigger mana pool, as well as extra damage output with the burst at the end of the silence. In combination with a Blink Dagger, Timbersaw becomes incredibly fearsome and can punish anyone out of position with ease.
- Chakram works very well against heroes with long channeling abilities, such as Shadow Shaman or Warlock. By casting Chakram while they are channeling, they either have to move and cancel their ´channeling, or stay and take damage.
- Rod of Atos synergizes very well with Timbersaw, since the increased intelligence will allow him to cast more spells and the health will increase his survivability. The slow from Atos will assist in landing Timbersaw's spells, and the combined with Chakram's slow, it almost always reduces an enemy's movement speed to minimum.
- Cloak can be an underrated early game item on Timbersaw, since his biggest weakness before he gets big items are disables and magical damage. With a casual Cloak and Reactive Armor, Timbersaw is very difficult to kill in the early and mid game.
Trivia
- In DotA, Rizzrack's hero title was Goblin Shredder. Unlike his Dota 2 counterpart, he cut trees for profit and was not afraid of them.
- His response upon killing Treant Protector ▶️ "If you fall in the woods, and I laugh, will anyone hear me?" is a reference to the popular philosophical question "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?".
- His response ▶️ "I'm not a lumberjack, and no, I'm not okay. I thank you." is a reference to "Monty Python's Flying Circus" in which they sing a song called "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay".
- His response ▶️ "Trees? Why did it have to be trees?" is a reference to the "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark" line "Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?" [1]
- Timbersaw's first and secondary Chakram colors may be a reference to the colors of portals of the games Portal and Portal 2, another series from Valve.
- Timbersaw's ultimate, Chakram, is most likely a reference to the mythological disc-weapon of the Hindu deity Viṣṇu. The weapon's full name is "Sudarśana Cakra" (the transliterated "c" makes a "ch" sound) and it is considered one of the most powerful weapons in Hindu mythology.
- Timbersaw's line when bottling a rune, ▶️ "This is my scheming face." may be a reference to the character Myron Reducto from "Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law".
