Template:Creep
Roshan, sometimes also referred to as Roshan the Immortal, is the most powerful neutral creep in Dota 2. It easily outmatches most heroes in one vs one combat. A team generally waits until later in the game where the damage dealers have better items, or tries to take it on with the entire team.
Every 4 minutes (starting at first lane creep spawn) Roshan gets stronger, gaining: +500 hp, +10 damage and +0.5 armor (given by an aura).
Respawning
Roshan respawns randomly between 8-11 minutes after he was last killed. His respawning cannot be stopped (unlike other neutral creeps) by placing wards and/or standing in his area.
Abilities
Roshan has four abilities at his disposal:
N/A
- Stun type is physical.
- Roshan will not cast Slam unless there are 3 or more units near him.
- The armor bonus starts at +0.5 armor, and increases by +0.5 every 4 minutes from the first creep spawn. He will also gain +500 HP and +10 damage each time.

Modifiers:
- Spell Block - "Roshan will block one targeted spell every 15 seconds."
- Devotion - "Armor bonus that increases as time goes on."
- Waiting - "Roshan is waiting for a victim to attack!"
Aegis and Cheese
When Roshan is killed, he always drops an Aegis. Once picked up, this item cannot be dropped or given to another hero. When the carrier of Aegis dies, a tombstone spawns on the corpse. After five seconds the hero respawns with full hp and mana on top of the tombstone, which consumes the Aegis. If the Aegis carrier does not die within five minutes of picking it up, the Aegis is removed from the carrier's inventory , and subsequently, is returned to Roshan, along with granting a buff to the wielder similar to the Regeneration rune that regenerates Health and Mana in a quick pace, but dispels on damage.
After Roshan has been killed two times, on his next respawn he begins to carry Cheese along with an Aegis. Cheese can be shared with allies, or sold for 500 gold. When used, it will instantly restore 2500 hp and 1000 mana to the user.
Protected area
Units must be within Roshan's spawn location in order to attack him. Roshan, however can attack anyone in his attack range, even if he is not in his cave. Units outside of his cave cannot see inside without going into it. So, units that are attacking Roshan will not be seen by other enemies outside of the cave, unless an ability that gives vision such as Templar Assassin's Psionic Trap, Invoker's Sun Strike, Ancient Apparition's Ice Vortex, or Clockwerk's Rocket Flare is used inside of the pit.
Trivia
- Roshan originates from the Urdu/Sanskrit language for "Light." In Urdu/Sanskrit Roshan means light particularly the brightness of light. Roshan is also a verb in Urdu meaning "to enlighten."
- According to the Are We Heroes Yet? comic, Roshan is the only being to have killed a Shopkeeper, thus claiming the Aegis of the Immortal, and being cursed to have his treasure stolen from him again and again.
- Roshan was named after Guinsoo's bowling ball.[1]
