Template:Creep
Roshan, sometimes also referred to as Roshan the Immortal, is the most powerful neutral creep in Dota 2. It easily outmatches most heroes in one vs one combat. A team generally waits until later in the game where the damage dealers have better items, or tries to take it on with the entire team.
Every 5 minutes (starting at first lane creep spawn) Roshan gets stronger, gaining: +500 hp, +10 damage and +0.5 armor (given by an aura). He will reach his maximum strength at the 45 minutes mark.
Respawning
Like all other neutral creeps, Roshan does respawn. However, he does not respawn at fixed times but instead exactly 10 minutes after he was killed. His respawning cannot be stopped (unlike other neutral creeps) by placing wards and/or standing in his area.
Abilities
Roshan has four abilities at his disposal:
N/A
- Roshan will not cast Slam unless there are 3 or more units near him.
- The armor bonus starts at +0.5 armor, and increases by +0.5 every 5 minutes from the first creep spawn, up to a maximum increase of +5 armor. He will also gain +500 HP and +10 damage each time, up to a maximum of +5,000 HP and +100 damage.
Sugar Rush
Aegis and Cheese
When Roshan is killed, he always drops an Aegis. Once picked up, this item cannot be dropped or given to another hero. When the carrier of Aegis dies, a tombstone spawns on the corpse. After five seconds the hero respawns with full hp and mana on top of the tombstone, which consumes the Aegis. If the Aegis carrier does not die within six minutes of picking it up, the Aegis is removed from the carrier's inventory, and subsequently, is returned to Roshan.
When Roshan respawns a third time, he begins to carry Cheese along with an Aegis. Cheese can be shared with allies just as like any other consumable, or sold for 500 gold. When used, it will instantly give the user 2500 hp and 1000 mana.
Protected area
Units must be within Roshan's spawn location in order to attack him. Roshan, however can attack anyone in his attack range, even if he is not in his cave. Units outside of his cave cannot see inside without going into it. So, units that are attacking Roshan will not be seen by other enemies outside of the cave, unless a skill that gives vision such as Broodmother's Spin Web, Templar Assassin's Psionic Trap, Invoker's Sun Strike, or Clockwerk's Rocket Flare is used inside of the pit.
Trivia
- Roshan originates from the Hindi/Sanskrit language for "Light." In Sanskrit Roshan means light particularly the brightness of light. Roshan is also a verb in Hindi meaning "to enlighten."
- According to the Are We Heroes Yet? comic, Roshan is the only being to have killed a Shopkeeper, thus claiming the Aegis of the Immortal, and being cursed to have his treasure stolen from him again and again.
- Roshan was named after Guinsoo's bowling ball.[1]
