You can move pages[]

I'm on my phone so I might not be quick to respond if you respond to this. :P. All users registered on the wiki are able to move pages themselves. Just click the little triangle to the left of the search box and the option should be there. -RJ 04:39, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

ok thanks. Redefining history 04:40, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Flag icon sizes[]

I notice you have adjusted the default flag icon size from a pitiful 16px width up to 20px, and back down to 18px. Do you have a particular reason for that size? I was thinking about changing the default width to 24px or 25px, both of which are widths that magically make the height of the United States flag 13px. This makes the United States flag look much better (one pixel per stripe), and makes Malaysia more distinguishable from the United States. (With only 9 vertical pixels, Malaysia is now a woeful smudge.) At a width of 24px, the flag icons do not seem overly large to my eye. --Kroocsiogsi 02:58, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Yeah you can try that. Redefining history 03:05, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
I think the max height can be 16px - before facing line spacing issues. Instead of setting the width to get a certain height, why not just set the maximum height? - e.g. Dota 2 logo - [[File:Dota 2 logo.png|x16px]]; Flag United States - [[File:Flag United States.png|x16px]]. -RJ 08:29, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
The reason I hadn't done this is that in places like this text gets knocked off-center. I was only using x14x when the flag didn't have to line up exactly with everything else. FWIW, RJ, above, seems to think it's reasonable to have various widths. If we go that way, then we should change the default size to x13x (or x14x), and add a special case for Malaysia (or US). --Kroocsiogsi 18:14, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
I guess changing the default sizes would be better then. It would look quite messed up with different size of flags in one article. Redefining history 18:16, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Aghanim's Scepter[]

I talked about it in IRC and the majority didn't like it. I left it on my page if they change their minds. Nickoladze 04:50, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Team Awards / Honours[]

I really would like to keep the Achievements / Awards / Honours section for Teams consistent, but currently we have three different styles going on: MYM, Natus Vincere, and Fnatic. I think we should decide on whether to have DotA and Dota 2 honours on the pages and how to style them. Personally, I prefer the table format as in the [Natus Vincere] page. What do you think? Sebra 17:16, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

MYM's one is really off. I also prefer the one on Navi's page but mostly used the format in the Fnatic page cos it's kinda hard to flip through history and find out the date and prize of the tourney. Redefining history 17:23, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Don't scare the newbies, please[]

Assume good faith. :-D --Kroocsiogsi 20:55, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

.. I think we need a template. But this one is too scary :P You can edit mine. Redefining history 20:56, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Translations[]

Hey. Our official translation reglaments says that all hero names, all item names and hero spell names should be left as is (that affects every language), so i'm not going to confuse people with translations. still i think i'm going to left our translations of that stuff somewhere nearby in brackets and in bios. But thank you for pointing on that! --SoJa 08:00, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

  • I see no reason keeping the english ability names in the russian part of the wiki, do you?

I actually mentioned the reason, they should be left so there will be less confusion about it. They're all on english in the game right now.SoJa 11:28, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

WesternWolves and Dota 2 Brawl[]

Have you found out whether WesternWolves are correctly spelled with a space or without? I've seen both used extensively so far but Western Wolves is probably more commonly used. Should we change it? Also about the Dota 2 Brawl Pre-Qualifiers, I was thinking of instead having them in a bracket, which looks rather confusing, have them in a table similar to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2%80%9312_UEFA_Champions_League#Qualifying_rounds

What do you think?

Cheers Sebra 06:13, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

/zh-hant Item List question[]

Some people of DotA 2 Discussion forum(s) in Taiwan have requested adding Item Cost display on the main Items/zh-hant page. The result should look like: "ItemName (Cost)" instead of just "ItemName" per listed item. I'm just wondering if there's anyway to program it in Template:Item List, otherwise I might have to do it via editing all the item names and add (cost) behind current status. What's your thoughts on this? -KPS 16:57, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

The direct link to the DotA 2 forum I referred is 哈拉區. Thanks for editing the ItemCost. I've joined the IRC, but was fairly confused while I was in there lol. Hopefully I'll get on track soon enough. -KPS 20:53, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Questions about User talk[]

Hello. I think this dota 2 wiki is awesome, so it's my pleasure to make some contributions on those translations. Just one question about this user talk page: If I reply to you on my own user talk page, will you receive it? How can let you know if I only reply on my page? Thanks, Redefining history. --Sissilb 21:57, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks[]

For that edit. Didn't notice. :) ~~ ARRG 11:18 PM 14 February 2012

lightofheaven[]

im sorry if i disturbed your understanding of him, but 6.5x is ages ago and in the current meta game he most noticably play windrunner. would it be a deal to remove beastmaster for windrunner then?

and btw, he is probably the best windrunner player in a top dota2-team.

2.edit: and sure you have to remove windrunner and add terrorblade who isnt even in dota 2 yet. pretty fail you wont even start a discussion about it, thats it for me helping with players.

== Steam Accounts

==

what do you think of adding the steam profiles of the pros to their article? and is that legal/good manners? -U Rec Bighead 09:13, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

did you watch navi vs quantic (fail question i know), but i am afraid the addition of steam accounts to those profiles partly made the lags at first game, because everyone could easily find the ip via those profiles. sould we maybe exlude them again, for the "greater well"? -U Rec Bighead 20:32, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Cosmetic Items[]

Hello, could you tell me where you got the information for the list of Cosmetic Items? I would like to follow up on it and update if necessary ^^ - Kodama 12:27, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

You don't, by some coincidence, happen to go to MacPherson?[]

I just got an email from a science teacher there. --Kroocsiogsi 04:17, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

No, I don't. How would you get an email from a school teacher ._. Redefining history 04:25, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Vacation[]

Man, I thought you are on vacation. Yet you are as active as ever. ;p Sebra 19:32, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

New Wiki-banner[]

Was there a discussion about implementing the new banner? I can't find one in logs or on Wiki. While the changes are subtle, the banner is essentially the wiki's "branding" - any changes to it should be discussed and agreed upon before implementation. You also have to be careful moving over protected files - once they're deleted (to make way for move), they become unprotected; so you'll have to protect them again once the move is done. -RJ 13:22, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

Steam[]

Why did you protect Tournaments?[]

   "Tournaments"‎ [edit=sysop] (indefinite) [move=sysop] (indefinite) (Counter-productive edit warring)

I don't see any edit warring in the history, and the whole page is just a wrapper for Template:Tournaments, which is unprotected. I don't doubt you have a reason, but I don't understand it. :-p --Kroocsiogsi 18:50, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

The reason is just something i randomly clicked. There is no reason to change anything in Tournaments since we have Template:Tournaments, like how we protected our Events pages. Redefining history 22:21, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Drawing your attention to a comment on Dota_2_Wiki:Discussion[]

I think you're the man best qualified to respond to this. --Kroocsiogsi 07:33, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Notability guidelines[]

Heyo. I've created the page Help:Notability_guidelines, and as you're the fella who practically started our competitive section I think your opinion and suggestions for notability criteria is pretty important. Feel free to comment about the guidelines on the talk page. -RJ 21:16, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Just did a big update to hero name[]

Might want to cast your eye over the Chinese changes I made to Template:Hero name. They're all from game files, unless I messed up, but maybe there are subtleties I missed. --Kroocsiogsi 23:27, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Ditto for Template:Icon name --Kroocsiogsi 00:39, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Nothing wrong with it from what I see. Redefining history 05:21, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Regarding matchbox bot[]

It's sufficient for it to crawl just the pages in Category:Currently ongoing tournaments, correct? Also it would be quite helpful if you reminded me what kind of data you want to list in the ticker. My memory is pretty bad and it helps if I have something easily referenced. -- Lagg User Lagg optf2 icon 06:56, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Tournament Bot[]

Here's the output for a game from the qualifiers for the International:

2012-06-10 NEXT.kz < mTw

NEXT.kz.Mantis Anti-Mage icon

NEXT.kz.StalCat Invoker icon

NEXT.kz.LuCky Earthshaker icon

OLoLo Vengeful Spirit icon

NEXT.kz.eQual Beastmaster icon

Night Stalker icon mTw syndereN

Broodmother icon mTw Funzii

Windranger icon REAL rambo doto

Enigma icon push568

Lich icon mTw Kebap

Cool this is showing up now. I've made some changes based on Lagg's suggestions so all hero names should be accurate. Another thing to note is that it always puts Radiant first and Dire second so teams will swap around in a best of 3 or best of 5, but I think that's useful information. Cobrophy 17.13, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
If this would eventually work on private tournament games I would actually make a template to solve the flag problem (ie link team names to flags). Redefining history 09:05, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
So the bot works to a reasonable level at this point but the API needs a few things before it could be fully utilised. Most importantly access to tournament games or private lobbies. Also bans would be nice. It may be usable through the International though, as games for the qualifying tournament are accessible through the API. Cobrophy 09.14, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I missed your IRC message[]

Hey, I'm so sorry, I was literally afk for like 5 minutes. What was it you wanted to tell me? If you were going to ask something about the community project page, I was really hoping to restart that project. Peacekeeper94 05:34, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
