Skitskurr the Weaver is a ranged agility hero, who isn't capable of being in the center of a battle, but can really annoy and harass his enemies in the lane. Weaver is a difficult hero to kill due to his low-cooldown Shukuchi ability which grants him invisibility and movement speed, and his Ultimate, Time Lapse, which allows him to recover completely from a large amount of damage dealt to him. Weaver is a carry who can surprise wounded foes running away from the battle, hunt them down and disappear, avoiding the focus of the enemy team.

[edit] Bio

Weaver Skitskurr, the Weaver
Play "The threads of fate are mine to weave."
Role: Pip carry.png Carry / Pip tank.png Escape
Lore: The fabric of creation needs constant care, lest it grow tattered; for when it unravels, whole worlds come undone. It is the work of the Weavers to keep the fabric tight, to repair worn spots in the mesh of reality. They also defend from the things that gnaw and lay their eggs in frayed regions, whose young can quickly devour an entire universe if the Weavers let their attention lapse. Skitskurr was a master Weaver, charged with keeping one small patch of creation tightly woven and unfaded. But the job was not enough to satisfy. It nagged him that the original work of creation all lay in the past; the Loom had done its work and travelled on. He wanted to create rather than merely maintain—to weave worlds of his own devising. He began making small changes to his domain, but the thrill of creation proved addictive, and his strokes became bolder, pulling against the pattern that the Loom had woven. The guardians came, with their scissors, and Weaver's world was pared off, snipped from the cosmic tapestry, which they rewove without him in it. Skitskurr found himself alone, apart from his kind, a state that would have been torment for any other Weaver. But Skitskurr rejoiced, for now he was free. Free to create for himself, to begin anew. The raw materials he needed to weave a new reality were all around him. All he had to do was tear apart this old world at the seams.

The Swarm

The Swarm icon.png
Ability Affects Damage
Target Point Enemies Physical
Weaver launches a swarm of 12 beetles that latch on any enemy unit in their path, attacking and reducing armor until it is killed.
Range: 3000
Beetle Duration: 8/12/16/20
Attack Damage: 15/20/25/30
Armor Reduced Per Attack: 1
Cooldown 36/33/30/27 Mana 100
Skitskurr opens a gap in the space time fabric, allowing young Weavers to slip through and aid him in combat.

  • When a beetle latches on a target, it will remain there until it is killed or the duration expires.
  • Beetles are magic immune, but can be destroyed by 4 attacks from a hero or a tower, or 8 from other units.
  • Beetles attack at 1.35 second intervals.
  • Beetles provide 321/321 sight, but will drop off their target if it becomes invisible.
  • Each beetle can attack about up to 5/8/11/14 times over their duration, resulting in a total of 75/160/275/420 damage, not counting the armor reduction.

Blocked by Magic Immunity.
Shukuchi icon.png
Ability Affects Damage
No Target Enemies Magical
Weaver shifts out of visibility, gaining the ability to move at maximum speed through physical units—doing harm to any enemies it passes through.
Radius: 175
Fade Time: 0.25
Duration: 4
Damage: 90/110/130/150
Cooldown 12/10/8/6 Mana 60
As the Weavers worked in the fabric of creation, small wormholes allowed them to slip through time to better work their craft.

  • Can only damage the same unit once per cast.
  • Attacking breaks invisibility.

Geminate Attack
Cannot be used by illusions.
Geminate Attack icon.png
Ability Affects
Passive Enemy units and structures
Allows Weaver to dispatch two swarms, attacking an enemy twice.
The extra attack will not trigger other attack effects (such as critical strike) and overrides Unique Attack Modifiers.
Cooldown 6/5/4/2.5
Skitskurr's relationship with time is somewhat variable, causing his actions to be witnessed — and felt — more than once.

  • Second attack will proc even if first attack is done when Geminate Attack is on cooldown. Geminate attack only checks cooldown when second attack is activated.

Time Lapse
Time Lapse icon.png
Ability Affects
No Target Self
Weaver warps backward to whatever position it was in five seconds earlier—regaining the HP and mana from that time. No effect on cooldown, gold or experience.
Cooldown 60/50/40 Mana 150/75/0
If Skitskurr does not deem the current reality of the world to fit his desires, he simply crawls back in time to right what was wronged.

  • Purges negative buffs from Weaver (some things cannot be removed, e.g. Rupture icon.png Rupture).

[edit] Recommended items

Early-game items:

  • Magic Stick gives health and mana in a pinch, useful for playing aggressive or survivability in the laning phase.
  • Boots of Speed give a decent speed boost so Weaver can be a bit faster when he isn't in Shukuchi.
  • Ring of Aquila is a cost effective stat boosting item that also helps with mana regen so that Shukuchi can be used more often.

Core items:

  • Magic Stick progresses into Magic Wand, offering extra attributes and charge capacity.
  • Power Treads give Weaver some extra health and attack speed.
  • Linken's Sphere gives extra health and blocks spells. Combined with Time Lapse and Shukuchi, this makes Weaver extremely hard to kill.

Situational items:

  • Radiance gives lots of damage, which goes well with Geminate Attack. Additionally, the Radiance burn allows Weaver to deal additional damage while invisible.
  • Monkey King Bar grants lots of bonus damage, which Weaver makes use of with Geminate Attack.
  • Butterfly provides damage, armor, attack speed, and evasion, making Weaver harder to kill and more damaging.
  • Desolator although not mentioned in his suggested items, gives excellent damage and an armor reduction debuff that synergizes with The Swarm.

[edit] Tips

  • While in Shukuchi, position yourself to use your Geminate Attack as soon as Shukuchi ends.
  • You can use Time Lapse to get back into the fight immediately after your death (by quick buyback). This is however risky manouver, as most likely, you won't be at full HP. Consider using this trick when you got nuked by a strong ultimate (like Lion's - Finger of Death, or Lina's - Laguna Blade). Using Shukuchi after Time Lapse will also improve your survivability (if your HP is not full).
  • Manta style provides a reliable means of removing silence, dust, or other status debuffs.

[edit] Trivia

  • Weaver's original title was Nerubian Weaver, and his original name was Anub'seran. Nerubians are a race of arachnids in the Warcraft universe.[1]
  • Weaver's fun name in DotA was Anoob'seran.
  • Geminate Attack is frequently misread as Germinate Attack. To geminate is to double, coming from the Latin word for twin (as in Gemini).
  • Shukuchi is a Japanese term for rapid movement, or teleportation.
  • Weaver draws many inspirations from a character of the same name in the novel, Perdido Street Station.
  • Weaver's Time Lapse icon may also be a reference to the box art of the movie Aliens 3, considering that Sigourney Weaver has the lead role in the film.
